Top 7 types of posts you can write when you lack ideas for new articles
I'm not always in the top shape to publish a post. On some days the pressure that I have put on myself to release an article every day blocks me a bit. In this case, I usually have some wildcards that I can always use when the rest fail.
Today is one of those days. It's late and I'm tired. I have a long list of post ideas but I don't really feel inspired to finish any of them. It's not the first time it's happened to me nor the last. In 2012 I have the challenge of publishing a post every day. It's not easy but if you want to get something it's always hard. So there are no excuses not to post today.
Whenever I have one of these moments, I have to write an article that does not require too much creative effort since my mood is not right.
I also have to be careful not to write something that is of low quality and that at least does not stray too far from the average level in this blog. I make use of the following types of posts:
Advertise a series of posts
Series of posts are a way to attract repeat visitors to your blog. I usually have several ideas written down and whenever I don't feel very inspired I use this wildcard to be able to publish a post every day.
Adding existing posts to a series
Sometimes you find that multiple posts you've written deal with the same topic but with different perspectives. In this case, you can write an article that refers to all of them and also allows readers an easy reading.
List with 10 words
This type of post, in addition to being quick to write, usually gives very good results. I usually put 1 word that is accompanied by 1-2 explanatory sentences. "10 verbs to undertake" is an example of this type of post.
List with +20 points
Another type of similar post is to create lists with brief tips on any topic. Since you don't have to write a lot of text around the points, it can be an easy way to create an entry. An example of this type of post is “33 short tips to create better content on your blog”.
A photo or image:
A picture says more than 1,000 words. An excellent example seems to me the post "The sequence of success" by Mark Fodor. It is a series of several images that he publishes in his post. I would have liked to have had the idea because I think it's just great...
Update an old post:
If you've been blogging for a while, you may have some old posts that require an update. Rewriting an old post can be a way to publish a new article. Most of your readers will probably not even know the first version and those who have already read it will thank you for updating it.
Invite external authors
It's not bad to give your blog a new perspective. A change of tone can be a welcome variation. Inviting external authors to your blog can be a temporary solution but do not make it the rule since your readers read your blog for you and not for third parties.
