How posts  to be get read by readers, not just scanned (Part1)

In this post, I explain a little more in detail one of the 5 fields of interaction with content in online marketing. “Scanning” is a typical way that reflects how most users read blogs. Here are some tips to prevent the user from escaping and moving to a field of interaction that allows you to generate a higher ROI.

Most bloggers spend a lot of time creating content that they think will be useful to their readers. Between writing, reviewing, and publishing a post, it can take 1-2 hours or even several days.

Many quality posts do not receive the attention they deserve because how the majority of visitors interact with content is not taken into account today. today: blogs are no longer read, they are scanned.

How do get the attention of users?

In this post, I focus a lot on Twitter because it is what I know best. Still, most of the advice can be applied to other networks or environments as well. To get initial attention and attract traffic, the following points are important.

 1. Create Memorable Titles

I've already written several times about the importance of titles and how to create Twitter headlines that grab the user's attention. 80% of the success of a post is in its header.

 Post at the best times:

knowing the "prime time" of your blog and Twitter allows you to get more coverage. The best results are achieved by publishing and launching tweets and posts between 23 to 24 hours.

 2. Launch 2-3 tweets for the same post:

Especially if you have an audience across the pond, it makes sense to launch several tweets to catch the "prime time" of the different time slots.

Also if you address exclusively to an audience in Spain, you can do it several times. In general, you duplicate very little audience since we all have different schedules. To avoid it almost completely, you can vary the titles and thus not cause the impression of repetition.

 3. How to prevent your visitors from escaping?

Getting attention is vital but it may only be the first step. Interaction with your content that consists only of briefly scanning the post does not generate a positive ROI. You have less than 1 second to prevent the user from escaping. Here are some tips to get the most out of them.

 4. Structure of your post:

The visitor needs different anchors to stay longer on your site. Although it may seem like a contradiction, you have to create a scannable structure. The use of subheadings, bold, lists, and/or quotes allows a quick orientation and they have to transmit the key messages in the second we have.

Without this structure, the bounce rate is even higher because the visitor is discouraged from spending time with a fat post block, with small print, and without paragraphs. You are not going to risk wasting your time with an article that may not do you any good.

 5. Design and use of images

The design of your blog, in general, is key to creating a good first impression. Keep in mind that the "image" you give conveys professionalism and gives an immediate reflection of the quality of your content (although this is only in the perception of the reader).

Photos and images are also part of the first screenshot of the blog and your post. At the same time, they are an important anchor to "grab" the user has seen that transmits an element of information about your article in a visual way.
