There is always something magical about short stories. They are not just easy to understand and digest. They always come with heart-touching and thought-provoking moral lessons.
Here are some of the most powerful and inspirational stories that I have read recently.
1.The Thin Rope (power of belief)
Once upon a time, a man was walking through a wild camp when he noticed that the elephants in the camp were kept in tiny grounds held by the thin ropes tied to their legs through a nail on the ground.
The man was surprised to see how a small piece of rope could hold back the mighty elephants from escaping from that camp.
He was puzzled and confused. He wondered why the mighty elephants were not using their strength to break free from the rope and escape to freedom.
Curious for an answer, the man approached the trainer in the camp and asked him the same question.
the reply that the man got from the trainer was like this
“When these elephants are very young, we use the same ropes to tie them. At that age, the ropes are strong enough to hold them back. As they grow in age, they’re conditioned to believe that they cannot break free from them ever. Hence they never try again”.
Trainer’s answer helped the man understand that the reason which was holding back the elephants from the life of freedom was their own limiting beliefs that they had developed in their minds.
Moral of the story
The world will always try to limit your imagination. They will condition your brain to accept the opportunities as impossible to achieve. But what determines our success is the beliefs we will carry in our minds.
Thus, the right beliefs are the first step on the paths of success.
2.The sudden fall (encouragement)
Once upon a time, a group of frogs traveled through a dense forest when two of the frogs from the group fell into a deep well.
All the fellow frogs crowded around the well and told their friends that it was a waste of effort to get out of the well since it was too deep.
On the other hand, the frogs decided to ignore their comments and tried to jump high to get out of the well.
Despite all the efforts,
the frogs were unable to jump high enough to escape the well, and their fellow companions repeatedly reminded them that they would never succeed.
Looking at the whole situation, the first frog eventually gave up, but the other one kept trying as hard as he could.
Every time the frogs yelled at him to stop trying, He would jump harder, and finally, after many failed attempts, he made it out of the well.
When the frog came out of the well and was asked what kept him going in that deep well?
He explained that he was deaf. So, when the rest of the frogs were actually yelling at him to stop trying, he thought all of them were encouraging him, and that is why he never gave up.
Moral of the story
In life, we must turn deaf ears to the people who do not have any words of encouragement to share with us.
3. A pound of butter (power of deeds)
Once there lived a farmer in a village who sold butter to a baker.
One fine day, the baker decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting the right amount for his due.
He discovered that he was not.
Angry at the unethical action of the farmer, the baker took the farmer to court.
The judge asked the farmer how did he measure the butter. The farmer replied that he had no proper measure, but he had a scale.
The judge then asked how did the farmer weigh the butter without a proper measure?
The farmer replied that before he started to supply butter to the baker, he bought a loaf of bread from him. When the baker brought the bread, he would use the same scale to give him the same amount of butter.
Moral of the story
In life, we always get what we give to others. Love, happiness, honesty, and good relationships, everything begins with us.
4.The obstacle on the road
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway.
He then hid behind a tree, watching all the people come on that road and notice which would move the boulder out of the way.
Some of King's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and walked away.
Many people blamed the king for keeping the boulder on the road but did nothing to move the boulder away.
Then, after some time, a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables.
When the peasant saw the boulder on the road, he thought that this might cause a hurdle to many villagers and could also hurt someone in the dark, so he laid down his burden and tried to push the stone off the road.
After much effort, pushing, and straining, he was finally successful.
Once the boulder was moved, the peasant noticed that below that boulder lay a purse full of gold coins.
That purse was a gift from the king for the man who will do the good deed selflessly.
Moral of the story
Every obstacle in our life comes with an opportunity to improve our circumstances. If we act lazy and complain about it, it quietly slips from our hands.
On the other hand, if we face them with a smile, then they bring prosperity and happiness to our life.
5. The blind girl
Once there was a girl who hated herself for the reason that she was blind.
The only person she did not hate was her boyfriend.
The girl would say that if someday she would see the world, she would marry him.
One fine day a nobleman donated a pair of eyes to the girl. Now she could see everything in the world, Including her loving boyfriend.
The girl was shocked to see that her boyfriend was an ugly-looking man.
When asked if she would marry the boyfriend as she could now see the world? The girl refused the offer.
Her ugly boyfriend walked away in tears and with a note on a piece of paper that read, “just take care of my eyes.”
Moral of the story
People who really understand your value do not change their attitude towards you when your situations change. They understand that true happiness lies in relationships that are built on honesty and simplicity.
