How to restart my life - 6 habits that work

In times like these, a fresh start to a new life may seem like a distant dream. But the beauty of life lies in hope and action! As much as we all think and dream about that perfect life where everything is beautiful and happy, reality often turns out to be a little different, sometimes even bitter to the extent that it puts us in situations of absolute misery and the state of hopelessness.

If you have been experiencing the downfall of life where it seems to slip away from your hands, adopting these 6 simple habits will help you restart your life and give it the direction you wish to.

Habit no. 1 – Taking it one day at a time

The worst part about difficult times is that it fills a person’s heart with a lot of worry for tomorrow, departs him from the positive energies of his soul, and deprives him of the pleasures of his today.

The best way to deal with such times is to trick your brain into accepting life in and as one day at a time.

By following this simple technique, you will focus on your present, enjoy small moments of life, and your worries of tomorrow will start to appear insignificant.

Habit no. 2 - Pen it down

Taking out a pen and a piece of paper to write down something may seem like a tedious task at first, but this simple habit acts as a powerful tool in redefining and reshaping your life.

You might have observed that we often take refuge in talking to people who listen to us without any bias when we go through a rough phase in life. This is how talking helps.

What works even better is self-talk!

Yes! When we pen down the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of Pain, failure, insecurity, confusion, or any other sentiment that is bothering us in that phase on a piece of paper, it gives a vent to all the negative energy stored within us.

With this exercise, your heart will start to feel lighter, and your brain will function better as the focus will be shifted from the problem to the solution part.

Habit no. 3 – Reflection

Its human tendency to avoid pain which sometimes could mean avoiding painful conversations too. But you are not an ordinary person. You are that undefeatable soul who is committed to restarting his life and is ready to inculcate the habit of reflection for this purpose.

The habit of reflection requires you to spend a few minutes of your day reflecting on what has caused you these adverse situations?

Make a note of what are those things in life when you are not happy, and why is that so?

Once you have reflected upon those questions and have discovered your answers, it's time to ask the preeminent question of what actions you are willing to take to change the situations in your life?

Contemplate that question and come up with a list of a minimum of 3 actions.

Pondering on these questions and coming up with a list of actions will motivate you to take charge of your life and turn the adverse situations favorable.

Habit no.4 – Setting goals

Do you know that there is a direct relation between accomplishments and the confidence levels of a person?

You might have observed that people with high accomplishments are often people of high confidence.

How does it work, and how can you use this knowledge to restart your life?

It's simple! Each night before you go to sleep, prepare a list of tasks/victories that you will complete or accomplish tomorrow.

Remember that the task list does not have to require you to become a superhero. It can contain the simplest of goals such as waking up early, going for a 10 minutes’ walk, taking a bath, reading 2 pages a day, checking the office calendar in advance, spending time on self-care, calling a friend, buying grocery or anything that you feel is pending from a long time.

What this exercise does for you is that it will revive your confidence levels.

With every right tick mark that you put in front of the completed task, you will feel a sense of accomplishment, excitement, happiness, and contentment.

Habit no. 5 – Taking out time for buzz moments

Work is an essential part of human life; unlike the few lucky ones who work for their passion and happiness, many human populations work for survival and sustenance.

I personally believe any work that gives a person the capacity to bring home food and shelter should be respected if not loved.

So, if you are somebody who does not have a means of survival, that’s the first thing you should focus on.

For others, the problem starts to arise when the feeling of mundaneness and sense of purposelessness starts to seep into the heart due to indulging in an activity for which they do not enjoy or feel the passion.

What can one do in such situations?

Resign from work? Well, that certainly is an option as long as you have planned on your funds for bill payments and have enough corpus to sustain you for a while.

For rest, buzz moments are a good solution.

Each day in your life, find time to do a little bit of what you truly love doing. It can be dance, paint, writing, singing, driving, playing video games, talking over the phone, sleeping, or anything that helps you forget about everything else in the world and bring a smile to your face.

Utilizing a few minutes of the day to do what you love will fill your heart with happiness, bring a smile to your face, and help you respect the work that is giving you money and survival.

Habit no.6 – Expressing Gratitude

It is completely understandable that when the times are not right, it becomes tough for anyone to focus on anything good in one’s life. However, my personal life experience has taught me that this is exactly what one should be doing.

In the beginning, it may seem a little difficult to be thankful for anything in times of crisis. Nonetheless, you can still explore the thought of having a family, working limbs, and food and shelter if you still have them.

You can also be thankful for the opportunities coming your way, the phone or laptop through which you can read this article, and if you still do not find anything, you can be thankful for the fact that you are alive and breathing.

Being able to breathe shows that you still have an opportunity to redefine your life and give it the meaning that you want to. You still have the opportunity to serve and be happy.

When asked in one of her interviews, famous Hollywood when a most powerful word in the dicti, famous Hollywood celebrity Selena Gomez stationary “replied with “Gratitude.”

Such is the power of this simple habit that it can change your whole world.

When I was a child, my grandmother would tell me stories with morals. I loved most about those stories because, in every story, there was a hero, a nobleman with a genuine desire in his heart, but the fulfillment of that desire required the hero to walk a path that was never smooth.

The hero never gave up and stopped only when he had achieved what he truly desired.

Continue to walk on this bumpy road with courage and patience. You will find your destination in the most unexpected way! In your life, you are that hero.

As a wise man stated, “every cloud has a silver lining.”

You have my best wishes!
