Total quality management (TQM) refers to the continuous process of recognizing, decreasing, or eliminating faults. Total quality management is used to improve customer service, optimize supply chain management, and ensure that staff are appropriately trained. The goal is to continuously improve internal practices in order to increase the quality of an organization's outputs, including goods and services. The goal of total quality management is to hold all stakeholders engaged in the manufacturing process accountable for the entire quality of the finished product or service. TQM is commonly defined by eight guiding principles, which range from focusing on consumers to continuously improving and adhering to processes.
