The government of Pakistan is working hard to overcome the prevailing power crisis in the country. As part of this initiative, the federal government introduced a new energy conservation initiative. The steps proposed by the government are commendable; one step that needs special mention is the intention to introduce e-bikes. If this initiative can achieve the desired results, it will save foreign exchange and help in the regeneration of the environment. Another highlight is the government's thinking on supporting work from home. Federal Defense Minister K h a WA JA Asif, while highlighting the benefits of working from home, revealed that if 20 percent of the workers are made to work from home on a rotational basis, it will help save Rs 56 billion. The energy saving plan appears to be a well-thought-out effort along with common methods and contains several ready-made solutions to achieve the desired goal. While energy conservation is one piece of the puzzle of Pakistan's energy sector, city planning is another crucial factor. If cities are properly planned, the likelihood of providing basic amenities to all residents in a friendly manner increases.
