Why is Chandrayaan-2 special?
1 Despite India's first attempt to land a rover on the Moon, Chandrayaan 2 is notable because, unlike the USA's Apollo and Russia's Luna missions, ISRO will take the rover near the Moon's south pole near the critter Manzin C and Simpelius N.
2 According to ISRO, the South Pole of the Moon is an exciting surface area compared to the North Pole, which lives in the shadow.
3 It is likely to have water in permanently shaded areas around it, adding craters to the South Pole region; there may be cold traps and early solar system fossil records.
4 Chandrayaan-2 aims to increase our understanding of the Moon, encourage the advancement of technology, promote global alliances, and inspire future explorers and scientists.
Importance of Moon discovery: -
1 The Moon provides the best connection to the early history of the Earth. It gives an uninterrupted historical record of the environment of the inner solar system.
2 Although there are some mature models, further explanation was needed to understand the Moon's origin. Extensive mapping of the lunar surface was necessary to study variations in the lunar surface to ascertain the Moon's origin and evolution.
3 Further evidence is needed on the extent of water molecule distribution on the surface in the ten lunar regions to address the evidence of water molecules discovered by Chandrayaan-1 below the body and water origin on the Moon.
The innovation of ISRO: -
1 ISRO Rover wanted to test a substance such as lunar soil on intelligence to impede the Moon's experiments.
2 The Moon's surface is covered with craters, rocks, and dust and the texture of its soil.
3 An IANS report clarified that it was a costly affair to import a substance such as lunar soil from the United States.
4 ISRO was then searching for a local alternative as it required around 60–70 tonnes of soil.
5 Several geologists told ISRO that Salem in Tamil Nadu had "anorthosite" rocks that would be compared with the soil or regolith characteristics of the Moon.
6 ISRO finalized the "anorthosite" rocks for the lunar soil from Sitampondi and Kunnamalai in Tamil Nadu.

About GSLV MK III: -
1 ISRO used the GSLV Mk-II for Chandrayaan 2 as the Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3), a three-stage medium-lift launch vehicle.
2 It was designed to launch communication satellites into geostationary orbit; it is also recognized as a launch vehicle for the crew under the Indian operated spacecraft program.
About Chandrayaan 1: -
1 ISRO launched India's first Chandrayaan-i lunar probe in October 2008 and was conducted till August z009. 2 Chandrayaan-1 verified the hypothesis of the magma ocean, indicating that the Moon had once completely frozen.
3 Chandrayaan-1 had identified titanium and verified the existence of calcium in its ten-month orbit around the Moon.
4 Chandrayaan-1 collected the most accurate measurements of magnesium, aluminum, and iron on the lunar surface.
