Which Health Screening Tests Men Should Have?

Here are seven recommended health screening tests that all men should consider running for the sake of their good health and longevity. All seven tests will not work for all men. Four of these tests, however, apply to all men of different ages. Cholesterol Health Screening Most men just do not believe they have High Cholesterol and do not take the time to test it. For most men, you should check your cholesterol every 5 to 35 years. However, if you smoke, have diabetes, or if you have a heart attack in your family, you need to start testing when you are 20 years old. If you are overweight - you need to get that test now no matter how old you are. Checking Your Blood Pressure You should have your blood pressure checked at least every 2 years. You need to consult your doctor about this. The blood pressure machines in the corner of a drug store may need to be measured and inaccurate. High blood pressure has no symptoms and you may not even know you have a problem until you have a stroke that breaks your knee. Colorectal Cancer Screening Health Screening Normal Skin Cancer Screening should start at age 50. There are more than one type of test available, so do not be discouraged.  Diabetes Test If you have high blood pressure and or high cholesterol, your doctor will check you for Diabetes. If you are overweight, your doctor will probably use this screen at the same time as a cholesterol test. Prostate Cancer Screening Talk to your doctor about the benefits and potential risks of prostate cancer if you are considering doing a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test or a digital rectal (DRE) test. You need to talk to your doctor about this. You also need to consider the HIV problem if you have had a blood transfusion. Hiding your head in the sand of denial will not change the reality of the situation. Depression Testing This is probably the most controversial issue after love making infections. Many men are raised to “bite the bullet” and to silence any problems they may have. Generations of women complain that their husbands do not share. Everyone experiences depression from time to time and for many people those periods only last a few days and it is easy to say why you are depressed. There are some “acceptable” reasons for depression - job loss, illness or the death of a loved one, or job stress to name a few. However, if you feel sad, or hopeless, or have little interest or excitement in doing things or if you just want to sleep all the time for a specific 2 weeks, talk to your doctor. You may find that with just a little help you can get back on track. Do not let your doctor prescribe you with anti-depressants. Taking pills without doing anything to change your mood or attitude will only make it worse over time. Remember men, Real Men Take Care of Them To Take Care of Others. Real Men Ask for Help and Guidance When Needed. Real Men took steps to ensure that they would be close to kneeling down for generations to come.
