What are periods? Why do girls get periods every month?

           What Are Periods?

           The age of 13 to 50 years is called the reproductive age of women. Normally the periods start from the age of 13 after that these periods keep coming continuously till about 50 years, periods stop coming after the age of 50, Every month, women of reproductive age have bleeding for 3 to 4 days out of a vagina, this is called menstruation or also called periods.

So these periods regularly come every month; there is a cycle of 28 days in most months. If we talk about one menstruation cycle, it means that from the first day of the period to the first day of the next period, it is called one menstruation cycle.

 

Generally, girls get a period every 28 days, but it can come 2 to 3 days ahead or 2 to 3 days back; it is normal. It happens with most of the ladies. So instead of exactly 28 days, it should come to 32 days, or it should come to 26. It is also normal.

So the period comes in this way is bleeding for 3 to 4 days every month. In this normally 20 ml to 60 ml blood loss occurs for 3 to 4 days through the vagina to manage these earlier people use cloths but today's date good sanitary pads are available of different companies in the market. Why do periods come?

There is an organ in the female body which is called the uterus. When the lady is pregnant, the baby grows from this organ, and this organ supports the baby, and the pregnancy is maintained.

 

Why do periods hurt so much?

Pain during periods is called dysmenorrhea. There are two types of dysmenorrhea.

  1. Primary dysmenorrhea or Spasmodic dysmenorrhea.
  2. Secondary dysmenorrhea or Congestive dysmenorrhea.

The general pain from 13 years to 24 years is called primary dysmenorrhea or spasmodic dysmenorrhea. Pain occurs for 1 or 2 days during periods, then returns to normal by itself. This includes pain in the lower abdomen, the waist, the thighs, or the legs.

Symptoms of Primary dysmenorrhea or spasmodic dysmenorrhea.

To vomit, Dizziness 

 

Secondary dysmenorrhea or Congestive Dysmenorrhea

Secondary dysmenorrhea occurs in women between the ages of 25 years to 35 years. This pain usually occurs in the middle of the month.

Reason for secondary dysmenorrhea or congestive dysmenorrhea.

Uterine swelling

 

Symptoms Of secondary dysmenorrhea

  • White water discharge
  • Stomach ache
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Pain in sex

The reason for Dysmenorrhea:-

It is often seen that there is a hormone in women; its name is a prostaglandin; when it increases due to this, some ladies feel less pain, or some ladies feel more pain. 

 

How to manage Painful Periods?

  • Place a warm water bottle on your lower back and abdomen; it gives lots of relief in the menstrual cramps.
  • Another is massaging is also helpful. Massage lower abdomen and back with essential oil.
  • Avoid food items that cause water retention and boating. Or avoid consuming salty food, high amounts of caffeine, and tea.
  •  Include herbs such as cinnamon and turmeric in your diet.
  • Exercise is benificial as it releases positive hormones.
