TOP 5 TIPS FOR BETTER WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Since March 2020, more people are shifting to work from home. Organizations and people didn't have enough time to prepare for remote work or think about the best ways to work in this environment. People find it difficult to cope with this new normal. Technology and the Internet make employees accessible around the clock. Harvard Business School Survey shows that 94% of working professionals reported working more than 50 hours per week and nearly half of them said they work more than 65 hours per week. These days work-life balance seems nearly impossible. It helps our relationships, health, and overall happiness.

What is work-life balance ??

Work-life balance is a method that helps employees of an organization to balance their personal and professional lives. Work-life balance encourages employees to divide their time based on priorities and maintain a balance by devoting time to family, health, vacations, etc., along with making a career, business travel, etc.

Here I present some tips to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Interested to know ??

Then take a quick five into my new blog to know more.....

1. Designated home office space :

It is recommended to have a dedicated workspace when working from home. Having a separate workspace helps you get rid of distractions, shut out unwanted noise, helps you to stay focus, and increase your productivity. It helps you to separate work tasks from your personal life. Designated workspace helps you to shift to "work mode," thus gives you a comfortable environment to work.

2. Create a schedule and set boundaries :

Having a regular schedule helps you to maintain productivity and ease out your stress. Prepare a to-do list; set your work hours (login and log off at the correct time) so that you can focus on other things. Don't get married to your work; set boundaries.

3. Give yourself a break :

Working from home has created a new hangover, like shifting from task to task with no breaks and losing track of time. Working without breaks doesn't allow your body and brain to work effectively. Remember to give yourself a little time between tasks.

Spend at least 15 minutes break with your family or a roommate or if you're alone, go for a quick walk.

Remember taking breaks doesn't means shifting from one screen to another. Don't be tempted to look at your phone or check your social media. For sure, you'll feel refreshed and energetic after a break.

4. Eat right :

Working from home means having unlimited access to the kitchen. Whenever you take a break, you may be tempted to snack (even during work). Keeping your snacking in control can be tough when your home is your office. But this habit can cease your productivity (increase your waistline, too..). Eat balanced, nutritious food that elevates your mood and energy level. Avoid dehydration; drink plenty of water. Have proper snacks and mealtime. And most importantly, eat mindfully.

5. Sleep tight :

A study shows that 70% work from home people sleeping pattern has been disrupted. Employees who didn't receive the recommended amount of sleep per night were 76% more likely to experience a high stress level. It's common to sacrifice sleep to finish work. But if you're regularly prioritizing work more than sleep, then it may affect your health tragically. Improving your sleep hygiene, Maintaining a good sleep routine, limiting your screen time can help your sleep better.

Consistent sleep = Increased productivity + concentration.

Since you have read my blog so far, I have a bonus for you.

To not get stuck at work for so long, it is important to plan your after-work activities. By making plans, you'll have a specific reason to "leave" work on time. You can plan to stretch your body, go for a walk, do yoga, meditation, cuddle your pets, spend time with your family, and what more, do what makes your soul happy. These activities will help you to stay fit and healthy both in and out.

I hope the above tips will help you increase your productivity and have a healthy and happy "work from home."

You're in control. Be confident. Be positive.

We're in this together.
