Ram Sharan Sharma (1919- 2011)
Ram Sharan Sharma is a well-known Indian author, educator, and literary figure. He is well-known for his historical and cultural publications, specializing in India's ancient and medieval history. He is the author of notable works such as ‘Urban Decay in India,' ‘Looking for the Aryans,' and ‘India's Ancient Past.'
Sharma was a humble guy, which may have stemmed from his upbringing: he was born in India's Begusarai District and received his education in a rural setting.
He championed and led the campaign to improve the living conditions of his Barauni community. It's encouraging that he was especially concerned about ensuring that children and women had access to educational opportunities. Sharma pushed for the establishment of a local library in his Barauni village.
Ram Sharma's books have been translated into a variety of languages around the world. The author got on the wrong side of the authorities and had his book, "Ancient India," prohibited.
His provocative views on Krishna's historical role in the Mahabharata did not sit well with everyone.Ram Sharan's life served as an inspiration for India's and the world's bold and inventive thinkers.
Anita Desai (1937 to present)
Anita Desai has authored at least a dozen adult and children's novels, several of which have won awards. Her debut novel, "Cry the Peacock," handled a sensitive subject: Indian women's persecution and suppression.
Perhaps her most popular work is the novel "Clear Light Of Day," which vividly depicts the lives of two sisters imprisoned in the indolence of Indian living. Desai's style, which employs various imagery to conjure up character and mood, is partly responsible for her popularity. ‘My approach of writing is to allow the tale to unfold on its own,' Desai said of her writing. I strive to keep my work loosely structured.'
Desai also dabbled in another type of literature, with works such as ‘Games at Twilight, and Other Stories' and ‘Diamond Dust, and Other Stories.'
Another of Desai's contributions to the literary world is his publishing company, "Writers Workshop," which has significantly impacted Indian publishing. This was the brainchild of P. Lal, a fellow writer with whom Desai collaborated in 1958.
Desai was born and raised in New Delhi, India, and now lives in the United States.
Her first story was written when she was seven years old, and she was first published when she was nine years old! Desai's daughter Kiran Desai won the Booker Prize for her novel "The Inheritance of Loss" in 2006. She must have inspired her daughter and husband to become writers as well.
Rabindranath Tagore (1861- 1941)
“I seem to have loved you in a million different ways, at a million different moments...
“Forever,” says the narrator, “in life after life, in age after age.”

He is renowned for introducing both Indian and Western cultures to each other. Tagore is a poet, playwright, essayist, painter, and short-story writer who wears many hats. He also holds the distinction of becoming the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize for Literature!
A look at Tagore's later writing reveals a style or theme affected by his time spent mingling with locals on a houseboat on the Padma River, absorbing up their lifestyles, sorrow, and agony, as well as small pleasures. During his time here, he published several poetry anthologies.
Tagore is known in India as an "eminent creative artist of the early twentieth century." Bengali literature did not include colloquial language before his authoring. The achievements of Rabindranath Tagore, including his poetry, are inspiring. He has a substantial corpus of work to his credit.
Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay (1876-1938)
His father, who was also a writer, encouraged him to pursue his dream of becoming a writer, and he went on to publish his first notable essay as a teenager. Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay wrote against patriarchal culture and intolerance. His Bengali novels, as well as his short stories, are well-known.
Chandra, despite her intelligence, was unable to attend college. In his teens, he took up writing seriously and published several well-known books and short tales. Devdas, one of Chandra's most well-known works, has been adapted for the cinema 20 times as a film and five times as a song. Devdas is an enthralling love story. His other well-known works are ‘Parineeta,' ‘Palli Samaj,' and ‘Biraj Bau.'
Chandra was a feminist, and as a result, many of his works deal with issues related to women's oppression and hardships. Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay became well-known as a result of these and other topics he covered in his writings.
It's charming that he taught his uneducated second wife how to read and write.
Ruskin Bond (1934-Present)
Ruskin Bond is another writer who started writing while he was a child. Bond began writing short stories at sixteen and his first novel after graduating from high school. The novel, titled "The Room On The Roof," won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize, given to a British Commonwealth writer under the age of 30.
Bond, Ruskin Early in his career, he learned to make a living by writing short tales and poetry for newspapers and periodicals. Some of his best-known works, such as ‘Ghost Stories From The Raj,' ‘A Season of Ghosts,' and ‘A Face in the Dark and Other Hauntings,' demonstrated his interest in spooky fiction, which he wrote superbly. Bond's origins as a writer were modest compared to his achievements; he began as a freelance writer before moving on to Editor of different journals.
He was born in India's Punjab province and went to school in India and the United Kingdom. His time in the United Kingdom aided his writing career. The novel ‘The Blue Umbrella,' released in 1980, has been made into a film and a comic book. It was named Best Children's Film at the National Film Awards.
