Myths are abundant everywhere in this world, mainly in India also. Since our country,,, India is home to diverse cultures, facts are confused with cultural values. This gives rise to many myths that Indians fail to overlook (mainly, these myths are common in Indian villages). Various myths related to food in India are discussed below:

Myth 1: Papaya Should be avoided by women during pregnancies.

Reality: Papayas are actually full of Vitamins and Minerals, which are beneficial for the pregnant woman and eventually for the baby in his womb.

 

Myth 2: Don't dare to drink milk after eating a fish. It will harm you later.

Reality: This myth is as famous in South India as in South India. Milk and Fish are actually a healthy combination. Many Indians think that drinking milk right after consuming fish causes spots on the skin, which is not true.

Myth 3:While intaking daily routine meals, drinking a lot of water negatively impacts a person's digestion system.

Reality: The truth is drinking water simply fills up our stomachs, and as a result, we tend to eat less. Actually, it's a great way to eat less, especially when we are on dieting.

 

Myth 4: "Eating foods in the mid-night is one of the reasons that lead to more possibility of being overweight."

Reality: Eating food late at night doesn't show any signs of storing more fat. So, we can eat food at night if we are hungry. If you eat more during dinner, then there are some chances of being overweight.

 

Myth 5: "Cholesterol is Bad"

Reality: Cholesterol is needed in our body for building new cells. There are two types of cholesterol; co is good for us (HDL), and the other is bad,, i.e., LDL.

Cheese, cream, and butter for adults are the main reason for raising the bad cholesterol levels in their bodies. But it is wonderful to consume unsaturated fats present in vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds (HDL). This is actually good for our body health.

 

Myth 6: "For a pregnant woman, the consumption of Kesar (saffron)by her during pregnancy makes newborn baby fair."

Reality: The color of the baby to be born's skin depends on the mother's and father's genes. Body-color is our genetic character. Eating too much saffron will not make the baby any fairer.

 

Myth 7: Rice and potatoes are bad if someone is trying to lose weight.

Reality: Every food, including rice, and potatoes has some nutritional value attached to it. Potatoes have a high amount of vitamins and fiber. Rice has carbohydrates. So if we eat these foods in proportion(not in overdose), they do not harm us.

 

Myth 8: Artificial sweeteners help us to lose weight.

Reality: A new study has found that the brain can identify the difference between real and artificial sugar. The drawback is eating food with artificial sweeteners is that it will only increase cravings for sugary treats.

 

Myth 9: Nuts are as bad as junk, fried, or fast food.

Reality: Nuts are excellent sources of protein and other nutrients. Nuts consumption on a regular basiregularlyveloping diabetes also protects against heart dis

 

Myth 10 carrots are more nutritious than cooked one.

Reality: Antioxidants may be enhanced when some vegetables are cooked. For example, cooking carrots actually increases their nutritional value. Boiling the carrots led to an increase in antioxidants by 14 percent, while other cooking methods and processing, especially frying, led to a decrease in the antioxidant value of that food. Myth: Expensive food is More Nutritious than a cheap one.

Reality: The cost of the food does not matter at all. The main thing is that the food we should eat has how muchories, vitamins, minerals, fats, fiber, etc..,, whe. Itis hygienic or not.
