How the Ringbrothers Kingpin Became a Menacing 800-HP Coyote V-8 Mustang

Ringbrothers, the Wisconsin-based shop known for customizing classic muscle cars, has branched out in recent years, stuffing a GM-sourced supercharged V-8 into a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud at SEMA 2023 and crafting an exquisite Aston Martin DBS for their first visit to Monterey Car Week this year. But for SEMA 2025, Ringbrothers have returned to their roots with Kingpin, a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that has been given an 800-hp heart transplant and more refined bodywork.

Co-owner Jim Ring said that, when developing the Kingpin, the look they chased was what "the final boss in a John Wick film" would drive. While the overall look of the Kingpin is fairly faithful to the original Mustang styling, Ringbrothers widened the bodywork by two inches up front and 3.5 inches at the rear. Along with an extra 1.5 inches of wheelbase at the front, the Kingpin has a more assertive stance.

The Kingpin's deep black paint provides a sinister attitude, while green accents on the brake calipers and badges provide a pop of color. A custom carbon-fiber diffuser pokes out from beneath the rear bumper, and the hood, grille surround, front splitter, and some interior trim are also crafted from carbon fiber. The taillights keep the classic look of three vertical stripes, but are 3-D-printed and serve as vents to let out air drawn in through the duct ahead of the rear wheels.
