EIGHT LEVELS OF YOGA
This 21st century is very much advanced compared to our ancestor's days. Especially in the last 10 years, technology has improved so much, which has brought up vast changes in the life of people which we didn't even expect. We have different kinds of clothes made of fancy materials, a wide variety of food, a luxurious lifestyle, we have everything around us but do we lead a peaceful happy life? How many of you can say yes?
Science and Technology have improved a lot, but we had a setback in understanding and perceiving people around us. We have forgotten to lead a meaningful, affectionate and satisfying life. We have made ourselves away from nature, hence life has become materialistic, affecting our mental health, and physical health. Many serious health issues have increased nowadays like cancer, diabetes, kidney diseases, and cardiac problems, which made our life colorless. We know the truth, but we humans have not realized the consequences. We would realize it only when the truth hit us badly.
Nowadays, we were searching for many ways to protect ourselves and our families from these mental and physical ailments, One of those is "yoga" which has been in practice since B.C. 3000 years ago, it's a wise choice to follow which would help to improve our physical and mental health. This yoga practice has 8 levels, and if we practice all these 8 levels in our day-to-day life helps us to enhance our physical and mental well-being.
EIGHT LEVELS OF YOGA
What are those eight levels of yoga, Eyamam, Niyamam, Asana, pranayama Suppressing of Senses, Accumulation, meditation & finally samati.
EYAMAM
To get complete benefit from yoga, physical and mental discipline is very much essential. Human nature is composed of specks of dirt like Hostility, Vengeance, Eroticism & claim, hence highest codes are needed. Performing yoga with all these mental agitations will not be beneficial or effective.
NIYAMAM
Niyamam is all about bringing up mental purity, which is the base or foundation for performing yoga asana, this includes the rule of self-discipline and controlling the will. Through this, we can enjoy the fullest benefits of yoga.
Humans sometimes behave like animals or even worse than animals. Eyamam and Niyamam help to overcome such human behaviors and enhances self-discipline among the practitioners.
ASANA
All the internal organs in our bodywork systematically round the clock if we keep the body active. Hence, physical activity like exercises and yoga asanas are needed to improve physical wellness. Doing yoga asana regularly helps to improve mental health, nervous system, and heart health and regulates our circulatory system, also improves liver and kidney functions.
Our ancestors have given us thousands of yoga asana, in which we can at least perform the asanas depending on each one of us physical and mental requirements.
PRANAYAMA
We usually breathe in and breathe out unknowingly round the clock throughout our lifetime. These pranayamas help us to keep our breath under control. Without any particular measure air travels in and out of our body every minute. Practicing pranayama every day under controlled measures like breathing in, holding, and breathing out under controlled measures brings us disciplined and balanced breathing, which improves our vitality.
Practicing pranayama regularly removes toxins easily, and purifies the blood and internal organs. All major internal organs become strong, genitals are cleared, purify our minds and improve concentration.
SUPPRESSING THE SENSES
Seeing, Hearing, Sniffing, Tasting and Feeling are the five senses, which are to be controlled that prevent us from being slaves to these senses. Controlling the senses suppresses the mind and accumulates energy.
ACCUMULATION
Eyamam, Niyamam, asanas, pranayama, and suppressing of senses, all these five level of yoga helps us to relieve our mental confusion and mental disturbances caused due to external reasons like all our emotions, our wishes, and health issues.
This organized flow in us helps in the occurrence of accumulation of thoughts, which is the sixth level of yoga. This helps to stop huge unwanted thought processes and mental changes occurring due to external factors, our mental health becomes strong enough to get ourselves isolated from the external environment. This is the level that helps in attaining the next two levels in yoga.
MEDITATION
Meditation is the complete focus without any mental interruption or disturbances. We humans can succeed in attaining a state of serenity by doing meditation on a regular basis.
SAMATI
Accumulation, Meditation, and Samati are the 3 different phases of mental functions. Each of these three levels of yoga improves our deep mental integrity.
everyone should do some sort of physical activity, my personal favorite is yoga.
