These days, many protests are going on all over the India in opposition to recently launched scheme by Government called "Agnipath" . Why is it so? Is it contain any wrong statement? Before raising these types of question one must have knowledge about the scheme. so what this scheme is all about?
Under this scheme 40,000 to 50,000 soldiers will be recruited annually and be called as "Agniveers". Men and women aged between 17.5 and 21 years will be eligible to serve in armed forces for 4 years. Around 25% of the ’AGNIVEERS’ will be allowed to serve for another 15 years under the permanent commission. Monthly salary will be given according to the year in which they are serving. Every "Agniveer" is eligible for many benefits such as Rs 11.71 Lakh as tax-free lump sum amount at the end of four years, Rs 48 lakhs life insurance cover for four years etc. But they are not eligible to some benefits which are for soldiers under permanent commission like pension, gratuity.
