The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3—reportedly code-named "SM8650"—is anticipated to include a single Cortex-X4 CPU core running at a blistering 3.7GHz along with 5 performance and 2 efficiency cores. A new 1+5+2 CPU architecture will be used. The 1+4+3 arrangement is the foundation of the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
The new chip's 3.7GHz maximum frequency is a significant improvement over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2's 3.36GHz. With the Adreno 750 GPU, the 8 Gen 3 is anticipated to deliver better graphic performance. It is predicted by enthusiasts to score close to 1.5 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark, which would be a major accomplishment.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is apparently being made by TSMC, the firm that created the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, using the N4P node, a 4 nm process with improved efficiency. When compared to N4, the new process node's performance is expected to increase by 6%. Although TSMC might have chosen to use the 3 nm process node for the new chip, it is assumed that they are continuing to use the N4P node because it is less expensive and simpler to produce.
There are still unconfirmed details surrounding the upcoming Qualcomm SoC. Brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Vivo, Motorola, and others are anticipated to introduce their Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phone options shortly after the chipset is made official. The Snapdragon Summit for this may take place later this year, probably in November or December, though official confirmation is still pending.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 improved multi-core results by 11%, which is no joke, especially when compared to the A16 Bionic, which is renowned for its single- and multi-threaded capabilities. One explanation for these astounding results may be Qualcomm's apparent decision to include additional performance cores with the future SoC's release. One Cortex-X4 super core and five more performance cores are claimed to be present in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 according to a previous rumor.
Regarding the AnTuTu findings, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a respectable score of 1.7 million, with the GPU accounting for the majority of the score. We will undoubtedly make a tonne of comparisons in the days to come, and we can't wait for the real commercial units to show here. Unfortunately, Qualcomm's celebration may be short-lived because Apple is getting ready to release the A17 Bionic, the world's first 3 nm chipset, in the fourth quarter. It will be interesting to see how it performs when used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The upcoming Dimensity 9200+ from MediaTek, which is anticipated to launch next month, will be directly competing with Qualcomm's most recent flagship chip.
