Tips for going to the best doctor
1. Keep as many medical records as possible to document your medical condition, especially for a new visit or consultation. Go to the hospital, lab or other doctor's office and get copies. It also saves doctor time and sometimes extra formal call.
2. Bring original bottles of prescriptions. Although the lists are helpful, they will tell you how many bottles are indicated at once, the dosage and if there are any refills left. No more speculations about the "Little Blue Pill". The same drug with most generics is shown in different shapes and sizes depending on the manufacturer. Now both of you can be on the same page when talking about specific medicine. I was also shocked that Pharmacist made so many mistakes on bottles.
3. Make a list of questions / requests before your trip. Of course, it is best to tell the person making the appointment which areas you want to discuss. This is not the time to say “personal”. We believe that everything in the medical office is personal. It helps us prepare in scheduling, equipment and proper room allocation. Believe it or not, we've heard of your problems before. Obviously if it is very sensitive, tell the receptionist how much time you need to discuss your personal problem.
4. If not done completely physically, try to keep a system for body visit. Most office visits are designed for 15-minute blocks. Suffice it to cover examples of the most common problems, such as rashes, upper respiratory infections, and urinary tract infections in general. As long as you have the problem or if the symptoms like stomach ache or dizziness are vague, it is expected to take longer. Do not hesitate to ask for more time. Apart from your expectations, we will know in advance.
5. Ask at the beginning of the office visit for prescription refills, notes for work or school and form filling. However, if you ignore it when you leave, a friendly reminder is always a good idea. Even at the beginning of the visit, you can always give the nurse a list of medications that need to be refilled. Again, communication helps everyone meet their needs.
6. Be realistic in your expectations. If you start a discussion on a topic that has nothing to do with the actual problem and want some answers, it will leave less time for other issues. For example, if you start with complaints of a headache that requires a physical and complete history, while you need to attend a Pap smear and gynecological exam, do not expect it to happen all at once. Will be completed. Always prioritize the most important things for the day. Sometimes the problems become more significant, and the symptoms worsen from the time of the actual appointment or follow-up. Tell the nurse or doctor that conditions have changed as soon as possible. That way we can arrive on time and you can find the solution to the most important problem.
7. If you are not satisfied with your service, do not leave the office without informing anyone. Most doctors and staff think everything is fine until they say so. When the information is up to date it is easy to resolve the issue and answer the question or complaint as quickly as possible. If you feel uncomfortable talking or unable to continue, write a quick note. Most areas are sensitive and emotionally overcharged. It is easy to misunderstand the instructions, the reasons for the tests or the intent of the doctor's observations. We really care how you feel.
8. It is easy to process your trip on time and maintain paperwork if all your information is correct. Tell the receptionist if you have changed, have a new telephone number or have changed medical insurance. Always carry your insurance card with you.
9. I know everyone is busy and on schedule. The main reason why doctors lag behind in punctuality is because patients arrive late. True, other factors play a role, such as telephone calls and most sick patients. Keep in mind that the problem gets worse as the day goes on. If you want to get in and out quickly, try to book a first or second appointment in the morning or afternoon.
10. Be simple. There are medical offices to serve patients. Sometimes bad news, tragic accident or serious medical condition requires more time and attention from employees. The person with the tears could not be brought out. If this is you, understand that you need extra time and attention.
