I was so caught up in this year’s resilience goals that I completely forgot about something I usually prepare for this time of year. But as soon as I got into my gym a week or two ago I was reminded so much about it. What are you reminded of ?, you might ask. New Year's Choice Crowd. They come every year like snow birds in Florida; they are so predictable, that I can put my watch next to them at midnight every New Year's Eve. And it's very easy to say to everyone, too. They appeared in January as herds and walked so tightly that there was a literal line in front of all the bells in the gym. Then in mid-late March they begin to disappear one by one like birds of prey being hunted by hunters. By April, almost all of them are gone. These annual “birds” are a joke in the gym every hunting season. The question is, WILL you be one of them? Because you certainly should not be. Everyone in the present situation was once a freshman or a horseman after “letting go” a little. So getting a fresh start is not something to be ashamed of. In fact, it should be applauded. A fresh start and a new start means that you have to get up and do something that most people in your family do not want to do for themselves. The trick is to not let it all end as soon as it started. I'll give you the secret to being the last dry man or woman when everyone "flew back north" because they couldn't cut it. Set your goals for weight loss and fitness NOW. Make it as clear as possible. The dress or waist size you want, your total weight, the dress you want to wear, the reaction you want to get. Write it all down. Studies have shown that written terms are twice as likely to be realistic than non-written ones. Then when you go to the gym, you forget about someone else. You heard me right - EVERYONE. Ignore those toned bodies that seem to take years to assemble. Ignore the show off in the corner doing some downside exercises with chains, ropes, and 2 machines. They are not your concern. All about you. Your body. Your goals. Your exercise. Your results. Go ahead and take that picture "before". Look at it every day as you work away from the old and look at the new. If you can go through the first few months you have greatly increased the chances of being there for a long time. Don't fool yourself into being one of the casualties in this year's gym. ... And if you can't go to the gym, that's fine. Do YourBestBodyNOW 15 Minute Workout at home and find a place near home to get into your cardio. The only thing that can separate you from your goals is you. Don't let that happen. Start this year as strong and deep as possible to make sure you keep it until you get what you want. You can do it, I know you can do it. In YourBestBody, Lawrence Cole
