Simply put, education is acquisition of knowledge and skills, development of morals, values and habits. Education is not only about these things. Rather, the educational process can be said to be complete only when we use the knowledge we acquire in a good way. Therefore, education is not only about acquiring knowledge and gathering information, but also about developing the ability to apply what we learn to everyday life situations.
Whether there is good education or bad education is a question that has been asked for years.
Good education aims to stimulate logical and critical thinking in individuals to prepare and empower them to lead a productive life that can certainly affect the economic development of the society and country they are a part of. People generally perceive the concept of education to be about going to school and getting good marks in exams. Education is beyond everything. Schooling alone does not lead to learning. Getting a good education depends on many factors including the environment or society we are in, social and economic background and the individual's ability to understand, analyze and act according to the needs of the times.
It is true that quality education and skill development comes from strong education systems. Having trained and dedicated teachers is one of the prerequisites for a good education. Education involves learning about different cultures, religions, communities, economic and social standards and developing oneself to become a socially responsible individual.
In particular, the learning ability of children affected during the school holidays caused by the Covid-19 epidemic can be restored if quality education is provided to school-going children.
Because of this, many children who drop out of school are more likely to be sent to wage labor. We all have a responsibility to prevent this and continue their education.
Most children have their own mobile phones and access to the Internet through which they can find answers to educational questions, and thus, sometimes their doubts cannot be explained by parents, siblings or teachers. This is a major drawback in building a healthy society.
In today's age of internet and technology, it is easy to gather a lot of information. The ability to answer every question does not guarantee or prepare us for a life where experience and knowledge count.
Knowing how to fix a faucet can help us when we accidentally break a faucet and the water continues to flow. Likewise, everything we learn will help us in one way or the other. Therefore, good education can be defined as general and specific knowledge that people acquire through teaching or experience.
Why does being educated make us feel powerful?
Imagine you don't know how to use a mobile phone, a laptop, a match or a light bulb. What's the point of having something you don't know how to use? It was early discovered that two rocks collided together to produce sparks. Every little thing we encounter can teach us something. The more we know, the more powerful we are.
Let us all work together to provide quality education to future generations.
