The lack of water or its poor quality kills ten time more people than all the war combined. Water crisis is a global phenomenon, and it is anticipated that Lucifer is going to burn South Asia with global warming and water crisis.
Pakistan is the world fourth-highest water consuming country with its water intensity, amount and cubic meters used. The fact makes it crystal clear that our economy is enormously water dependent.
The UN food and agriculture organization measures the pressure on national water resources by calculating water withdrawal as a percentage of total renewable water resources.
India
India has also raised the water wastage issue on international level, reprimanding us for water wastage and leading for water control of western rivers. Water crisis is not as simple as the machinery is dreaming about, it is triggering security conflict. We are wasting one hundred letters for washing a car with running tap water.
Solution
We can stop the useless use of water by acting on the following steps.
Media
Media can play an important role in this respect. In this contemporary age, almost every person have social media account. So media should highlight this issue and give them advice to stop useless waste of water.
Education
Water more use in developing and under developing countries as compare to developed countries. Because the literacy rate in developing countries is low. People are uneducated, and they can not understand the importance of water.
So government should try to educate its citizen.
We should have aware our neighbor, family and friends about the importance of water who do not know about it.
Debate
Debates are also organized on this alarming issue. In this way, people are educated on this issue.
Stop to mix chemical in water
Almost all industries release their poisonous water in the water of lack or river. In this way, the water of rivers are becoming polluted. The animal of water also died. Every year, many fishes die due to the water of chemicals.
Government should take punitive action on such type of people that they become example for others, and they do not try to do such thing.
Appoint honest officers
Government should appoint honest people in irrigation system that they discharge their duty with honesty.
What politicians do
We should follow the motto "Save Water, Save Pakistan". Although national water crisis policy has been announced, nothing has been practically done yet. Political parties priorities their coming elections, not the coming generation. The government and policymakers have not turned a deaf ear to the looming future calamity.
Agriculture
Agriculture, which consumes almost the whole annual obtainable surface water, is largely untamed. Population escalation and urbanization are the key factors behind the crisis, which is further escalated by climate change.
Conclusion
We should not sit waiting for God, but we must move ahead with zeal and zest to cope with the future sinister water crisis before it is too late.
