One of the different things people in Germany are known for is beer. Beer is an important part of their culture and heritage, as well as over thirteen breweries located across the country. As for individual beer consumption, the Germans followed only the Czechs and the Irish. The history of German brewing is from the beginning of the nation when monks began trying to brew around 1000 A.D. World leaders eventually begin to enact the law on beer production as beer production begins to gain momentum. The most famous and important part of Germanic brewing came in 1516 with the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot, or standard of purity. Hops, barley, and water are the only ingredients that should be legally included in beer. Reinheitsgebot is the oldest food regulation in the world and remains unchanged for about five centuries. Yeast is the only ingredient in the list of essential ingredients. The leaven found naturally in the air was what the producers used in the past. Bavarian breweries are soon regarded as high-quality breweries because of the strict quality standards that follow the requirement of purity. As the popularity of Bavarian breweries spread throughout the country, other producers began to follow the proclamation again. As time passed and Germany began shipping beer, some cities became breweries. Fifteen hundred, Scandinavia, Holland, England, as far as India, mainly obtained their beer in one of the more than 600 breweries in downtown Bremen. Two other major alcohol-producing cities were Einbeck and Braunschweig. In modern Germany, most of the world's drinkers still prefer fabbier, or draft beer, over bottled beer because of its strong flavor and foam. In an effort to stem the tide of German bubonic steins infestation, it became popular at a time when hygiene was still in its infancy. During the bubonic plague, Germany enacted laws to prevent its citizens from getting infected. I'm sick. Infected flies can live on human food and spread the infection. This led to the production of German beer stein, a winepress that can be used with a thumb to prevent infections and to drink with one hand. Drinking beer increased dramatically as residents began to realize that the disease was spreading in unsanitary conditions with salty lakes. Originally built of stone with pewter lids, steins are growing in popularity. Steins began to be fully produced with pewter about 300 years as the pewter guild grew. Finally, porcelain and silver German beer steins were introduced and are still produced today. Today there are more than 1350 breweries in Germany that produce more than five thousand varieties of beer. The Benedictine abbey Weihenstephan, which has been brewing beer since 1,400, is reportedly the oldest company in the world. A German-based brewery in the Bavarian region of Bavaria near the city of Bamberg. German breweries produce a wide variety of flavors and beers, many of which can be served under ales or lagers. Some types of beer may contain up to 12% alcohol, making them more potent than most wines although most beers contain between 4.7% and 5.4% alcohol.
