How often do you hear someone say, “I'm not good enough”… or “When I'm good enough, I'll do it”? We talk about our “emotions” as if they were things coming up like buses or trains and then riding on them until it was time to get off at our destination, wherever we were and where we ended up. Pull the Rope - DING - down time! When associated with a patient’s weight loss gastric bypass bariatric, “attitude” is a very funny thing to measure as we find ourselves in a dramatic change of mood at times. Why is that? Why do we have mood swings for about the first six months of our weight loss journey? Basically it is because fat cells contain our hormones; and when we lower our fat cells, our hormones are severely compromised, and in many cases, they seem uncontrollable. Some of us are better at dealing with these major hormonal changes, and some certainly have the challenge of hiding their emotional…. I bet right now, you can point out a few situations where you did not understand why you just scolded someone, cried unexpectedly, or misunderstood something and upset you. You are confused why you did this way when it is not even in your situation. If you do not usually have your character behave this way, you should be aware that fat cells and hormones are in their way of life and are also confused! Never before have they been subject to sudden and dramatic changes because you have never lost so much weight in the first time in your entire diet. How can you cope with these emotional turmoil? Here are some tips: • Recognition: They are what they are - fat cells and hormones that try their best to work. • Be optimistic: Flexibility will not last forever - only about six months on your weight loss journey until the hormones stabilize and return to normal. • Pause before answering: You heard that "count to ten". This gives the mind less time to prepare wisely and rationally than to explode like a gun aimed at evil. • Deep Inflammation: More oxygen in the lungs reaches the blood cells that reach the brain. Do not turn your brain into a nutritious food because that only interferes with your thinking. • Consider the consequences: Will your emotions hurt someone? Will it cause more confusion in this situation? Side effects are inevitable. And if you do not do well, then you are only hurting your own relationship. • Get Enough Rest: Body and mind need to be closed and reassembled in order to function properly. Self-deception with adequate rest enhances mood swings. • Eat Healthy Foods: This does not make sense to us, does it? We know better the nutritional needs of our bodies than we realized in our lives because our blood will show our doctor the truth during our follow-up visit. • Remove, Immerse: Walk or take a long hot bath to relax. Do not make important decisions when you are feeling down. • Get help: If you have a problem, seek help from a support person or health care provider. He should not be ashamed to ask for help. • Inform Others: Or should I say “warn” others of your temporary situation? You can avoid future conflicts in this way. • Get some sunlight: Take every opportunity you can to spend some time in the sun! Divide the drapes, open the blind, take a trip, go for a drive, sit on the park bench… enjoy the sunlight! Serotonin (a chemical in our body that affects our emotions) increases when we are in a bright state. • Write it down: Write down on a piece of paper how you feel / are frustrated. Keep them in a journal for future review or discard immediately. This function is to release the steam that may have formed inside you. • Not Unique: If you feel that you are not alone in your feelings, you can find comfort in knowing that others are experiencing the same things.
