Covid-19 vaccinations are likely to be approved by the CDC for children as young as six months old. Governor Ron Desantis said that health care providers in Florida can order the shot through a federal program, according to the news this morning.
According to Mohammed Reza, M.D. (Infectious Disease Specialist), two alternative vaccinations have been approved and will be tested later today. So the MODERNA vaccine is a two-shot dose that is about one-fourth of the adult dose, while the PFIZER vaccine is a three-shot dose that is one-tenth of the adult dose and is administered over several weeks. I always urge parents to go to the individuals they trust, like their pediatrician or primary care doctor, and get their counsel, because this isn't a decision every parent has to make for their children.
Sadly, during this epidemic, children have died as a result of this virus. It's almost as if the immunizations were stationing guards in front of our house. Right? So, if we do it for adults to have vaccination bites from intruders like Covid-19 before they can attack us several times, why don't we do it for kids? It provides that amount of protection, and we don't know what the virus's long-term ramifications will be.
