Why Trump's obstacles to running for president ?

Former US President Donald Trump wants to be the candidate of the Republican Party in the next election. For this, he has announced to fight in the primary (primary selection) of the party. Through this, he wants to fight from the Republican Party for the third time. Attempting to run again for the presidency after losing an election is very rare in the United States.

When announcing the fight in the party primaries in Lagos, Florida last Tuesday night local time, Trump said, "From now on, the return of America begins." We have to save our country. As a nation, we are heading towards decline.

In the speech, Trump boasted about his own administration, as well as widely criticized President Joe Biden's governance in the last two years. "For two years under Joe Biden, millions of Americans have been living in pain, suffering, anxiety and despair," he said.

Trump's announcement to fight in the presidential primaries comes as his Republican colleagues blame him for the party's lackluster performance in last week's midterm elections.

Trump has some issues to fight for in the election that no other candidate has. These include crime, immigration. These issues are important to grassroots conservatives in the United States.

Trump has his own supporters. He can take US citizens to the polls who don't normally vote. Another area of his strength is that his supporters have occupied important positions in the Republican Party after four years in power. These will give him additional benefits.

However, Trump's speech on Tuesday revealed several of his weaknesses. He avoided the issue of his missteps and suffering during the corona pandemic in the speech. He did not even mention the attack by his supporters on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Again, the results of last week's midterm elections have sparked criticism among the party's conservative supporters. As a result, Trump may face several obstacles within the party in this year's primary.

Past record

Eight years ago, Trump was relatively new to politics. As a result, the voters had the idea that the hopes and aspirations of many would be reflected through him. But now there is no chance. He won the 2016 election.

While in office, Trump has cut taxes, reformed the criminal justice system. Failed again. Obama has failed to change the public health care system known as CARE. He promised to invest in US physical infrastructure. But could not do anything. His role in the Corona pandemic was questionable.

Lagging behind in popularity

Scrutiny began shortly after Trump announced his candidacy. Public opinion polls have begun. He is trailing Florida Governor DeSantis among party voters in New Hampshire and Iowa. He is also 26 and 20 points behind DeSantis in Florida and Georgia, respectively.

Trump also did poorly in midterm polls.

Age is a thing

Age is also a factor. If Trump wins the election in 2024, he will be 78 years old. Joe Biden also became president at this age. If Trump wins, he will be the second-oldest president in US history.

It remains to be seen whether Trump can win the fight for the Republican nomination. This time, he will have to fight with younger candidates in the primary.

Donald Trump has shown great patience in the past. But there is a limit to the patience of every human being.
