Pakistan is a land of beautiful places. Northern Areas are the extremely beautiful and charismatic. وادی سکردو is one of the most beautiful places in Pakistan. وادی سکردو is an epitome of beauty and wilderness, located in the extreme north of Pakistan at the confluence of the Indus River, which separates the Karakorum ranges from the Himalaya ranges. It is the central valley of گِلگِت بَلتِسْتان and also its Capital. وادی سکردو is a place which attracts with its beauty thousands of tourist from all over the world every year. Paths to some of the world’s highest mountains that includes K2 all are connected to this valley.وادی سکردو is surrounded by mountains with no greenery and sand dunes. Many Climbers from around the globe come to Pakistan every year to summit these mighty mountains, and many of them even lost their lives in trying to do so. These steep mountains killed many mountaineers. Most beautiful and famous places of وادی سکردو are دیوسائی Plains, شیوسر lake, ستپرا Lake, شگر Fort, کچورا Lakes, cold desert and شنگریلا.

دیوسائی Plains are the second highest in the world. They are situated at the elevation of 4,114 m (13,497 ft). These plains are designated as دیوسائی national park in 1993 by government of Pakistan. These plains are the habitat of brown bear. These plains look like heaven on Earth. They are full of natural beauty and extremely beautiful sight for eyes. If someone wants to experience real peace and inner satisfaction, he should visit دیوسائی plains. شیوسر lake is a lake of clear crystal water surrounded by high mountains. شیوسر lake is eye-catching sight and mesmerizing place to see. The best time to visit سکردو is Summer season, from June to September. In winter season, heavy snowfall cut the area from other world.

ستپرا Lake:
On the way to دیوسائی planes, comes this majestic lake called sat para lake. It is a natural lake near وادی سکردو. It gets its water supply from this lake. The main source of water of this lake is melting of ice in دیوسائی plains. A dam is being constructed on this lake. The green color water looks extremely beautiful.

شگر Fort:
It is locally known as “پھونگ کھر” which means The palace on rocks. It has been restored by Government in 1999. It was converted into a museum and a lavish hotel by government officials. Now it is managed by Serena hotels. This is the place of antiques and all the furniture is made from wood of fort. It is surrounded by high mountains and rocks and beautiful scenery.

شنگریلا:
شنگریلا resort is located around a heart shaped lake. It was the first ever resort established in the northern areas. Due to its breathtaking view and peaceful ambiance, it is called “HEAVEN ON EARTH”. The heart shaped lake is a sight for sore eyes from top view. وادی سکردو is home to mountain peaks, majestic lakes and boundless forests, and شنگریلا is one of the most visited place in سکردو by tourists.

The کچورا Lakes are three freshwater lakes:
upper کچورا lake
Lower کچورا lake
Lower کچورا lake is small but deep, in the middle of the شنگریلا. Upper کچورا lake, located amongst lush trees. It's road to Upper کچورا is short and lovely.
وادی سکردو is a depiction of heaven on earth. If someone wants to feel nature closely, he should visit وادی سکردو.
