New parents are often advised to bring their children so they can get a vaccine. Children can be given vaccines for everything from measles to smallpox, although the latter is rarely given today. The purpose of the vaccine is to prevent the child from contracting a life-threatening illness. This practice has been around for a long time than most people believe, as there are records of ancient Chinese doctors who vaccinated chickens and polio. However, there is also the dark side that is less well known in many vaccine benefits. Some vaccines, especially those given to children, can cause side effects. While most of these side effects are common and can be safely ignored in most cases, there are situations that need attention.
A recent example would be reports that a variety of vaccines against measles cause diabetes in children who are given it. The study eliminated all other possible factors during their study, which led to them finding that the only similarity left was that all children were given the same goal. Naturally, the only logical conclusion they should have is that the development of diabetes was among the most likely adverse effects of the vaccine. The research team took the time to compare the exact statistics and found that as the vaccine increased, so did the number of children with diabetes. That this is a physical contact is only suggested, but this is not the first time that the adverse effects of the vaccine have been documented.
Different children who were vaccinated ended up getting something they should not have done. Side effects vary from one side to the other, but the most common type of injury often comes with a mental health risk and stability. It is reported that one child developed a mental illness and a minor nervous breakdown as a result of the reaction he had and certain parts of his central nervous system. There is not much certainty about how that happened, but there are a number of theories under consideration.
Genetics are identified as a major factor in this as vaccines themselves, but that opens up a whole new set of worms. There is ample evidence to suggest that the number of adverse effects is not caused by the vaccine itself, but by the interaction of the components of the vaccine with specific factors determined by genetic makeup. Some genes make a person more likely to have side effects when using certain ingredients in vaccines. It is argued that these people put themselves at greater risk by obtaining a goal rather than ignoring it and allowing nature to take its place.
There is currently an ongoing debate over whether it should be compulsory for parents to vaccinate their children. The benefits of such a thing are obvious. Children will be protected from a variety of illnesses that may be difficult or expensive to treat, making it an economically sound decision. However, that also puts a small percentage of people at risk of heredity. Is unnecessarily risky enough to prevent illness for everyone else? Can policy be considered a violation of parental rights?
