Why The Best Acne Treatment May Be a Change in Diet

Western medicine is best known for its complexity when it comes to the formulation of drugs and targeted drug delivery systems, taken scientifically. However, it has been a major failure when it comes to having an open mind about solutions to medical problems that come from outside the realm of deductive sciences. That is why, for many years, western medicine has failed to draw a line between food and acne. Medical advances, as well as acne treatment, have improved considerably over the past 15 years or so. However, the problem of acne is not resolved, until recently. Over the past few years, research studies have begun to shrink and are now full of evidence that there is a link between acne and diet. The basic premise of the study is that eating refined carbohydrates and sugars is a major cause of problems for many people with acne. Scientific theory holds that when carbohydrates and sugars are metabolized, it leads to an increase in insulin and an insulin-like growth factor called IGF-1 production. This growth factor triggers the production of male hormones in the body in very large amounts. These growth hormones lead directly to an increase in the amount of sebum produced. Sebum is a grease that comes out of your pores, which people often describe as 'oily skin'. Sebum then clogs your pores and eventually causes a buildup of bacterial colonies in those pores that can leak out due to sebum. This eventually leads to acne. That detailed explanation explains this easily; if you eat refined carbohydrates and sugar you can make your skin worse, clog your pores, and develop acne. So, what is the answer? Not surprisingly, there can be less sugar and refined carbohydrates like sweets and pasta. These foods give us the small amount of nutrients we need while also giving us the most closed holes. In fact, recent studies indicate that these foods may be so bad that your body fights them as a disease, with the production of white blood cells. This white blood cell count not only lowers your immune system temporarily, but also causes your body to produce more toxins, some of which are excreted through your pores. But you may be surprised to learn that quitting chocolate and spaghetti may not be the only way to get clear skin. Instead, there are a number of foods, especially raw vegetables and antioxidants that can remove the skin. These foods act as a kind of mop inside the body to absorb toxins, also known as free radicals, which are often released as bacteria on the skin. So, in fact, following a healthy diet can counteract the problem of acne in two different ways, reducing sugar and refined carbs will cause your body to produce less pore to block sebum, while increasing your intake of certain raw vegetables will significantly reduce the amount of bacteria exuded from your holes. When combined, these two methods will greatly reduce the risk of acne. Keep your diet healthy and less in bad carbs.
