Letting your church go around one event is usually not a good idea. If that one event gets sour, so will your church. When you eat food, your weight can be that one event. If your diet is important to you, then your rating will be very important to you. The scale will give you “thumbs,” “thumbs down” or “suspension”; your weekly progress report. I used to feel good when I got “thumbs up,” and I was disappointed when I got “thumbs down.” Sometimes those feelings lasted a whole week until the next weight was measured, which would either confirm the feeling or change it. Please do not do this to yourself. Rating gives you feedback, and feedback is very important. Treat it like knowledge and avoid depression. What can you do to help yourself just before you step on the scales? Do you have any final requests? Is there anything you can do to increase your chances of success? If you are thinking of taking fast-acting laxatives, I will give you a few bonus points to think about outside the box, but please do not rely on such things. I certainly wouldn’t want to cover up my problems by becoming addicted to something other than food. For some weeks when I knew I would not be able to cut my hair, I wanted to cut my nails shorter than before, remove all the glue from my ears and shave my head (anything that would make me lose weight), but apparently I just needed to do better next week. That is the only thing one can do. Then there were the weeks when I knew I was going to gain a lot of weight. The night before the weigh-in, I lay down on my bed, wanting to go to bed as soon as I could so that tomorrow would come. I couldn’t wait to get to that scale, just as a baby can’t wait to open its birthday gifts. I would write down that weight loss of one or two pounds and proudly shine. My confidence grew in those days. My process of getting scales is not easy at all. I tried to weigh it as easily as I could rather than jump. I didn't want to make fun of the Fat Gods or anything like that. While both hands came out of the two separate bathtubs, I placed my left foot on the scales. Slowly I lifted my right foot off the scales while my hands were still responsible for copying the reading of the scale by 30 pounds. Gradually, I reduced the pressure from my hands and saw the reading begin to rise. How far will it go? At the same time my hands would lose contact with the walls, I realized how I did that week. When I got a pound, I used to weigh myself again, but I always got the same result. We should have tried. When I lost weight, I lost weight again. My guess was that the second weight might be higher. Why not leave something positive? Many times before measuring I used to starve myself all day. I wanted to nail it badly. What would happen after the measurement? I would recommend enough food for three people. I realized that I could do this as I would not have to weigh another seven days. I don't think this was a good idea (not played, Johnny). All in all it just took me out of balance. I think it is better to be consistent daily than to fast one or two days a week. You will end up causing damage to your metabolism. Remember that consistency is far more important than moderation in your diet. This does not mean that you cannot ignore some aspects of your life. Why not wear comfortable clothing and eat easily?
