Why Success Start With Humility

One of the biggest challenges I have seen for people and businesses is how they move forward when they are successful. It is not that success in itself is a problem, but in some cases an attitude can bring it about. Many of the graduates look at their business from a student perspective.

They want to know about the business, try things and if it works, they feel very happy about them. However, once some have tasted that success, they have become “overly optimistic” about their prospects, forgetting all the things that made them prosper in the first place and feeling that there is nothing they can do.

They have already succeeded, the motto: "I can do it again." You are probably familiar with statistics that 9 out of 10 businesses fail in the first 5 years. In my unscientific view I would totally agree with that. If you think your success will be an endless string of "King Midas touches", then it's best to take a step back and look at yourself positively.

Being successful at one business does not mean that you will never be successful. However, if your business start with a little submission to the success you already have, I believe you end up and actually BENEFIT and hold the reins of your competitors.

It helps you to keep fighting for your business and allows you to stay in the game longer. So how can you develop this mental attitude? Here are 5 key features you need:

1. "Listen, do not hear" - One of the best lessons I have ever learned was to open your ears and close your mouth. If you listen to your customers and prospects, they will tell you what they want and need. By listening, you can change and modify what you think is the right approach to your business, when in reality you may have been wrong.

2. "Yesterday's lessons may not be helpful today" - Experience is one of the best ways to bring in business, however, because something that worked yesterday does not mean it will work today. Ask yourself, 'How can I bring it to the next level?' Think of camera producers now as digital cameras are very popular. Does yesterday’s experience tell you that they should invest more and make a better film or should you invest to try to take advantage of the madness of the new digital camera?

3. "Look at your business with new eyes" - If you are constantly reviewing your business and pretending you have to sell it again, is it still important? Does your business plan make sense? If you continue to re-evaluate your business you will not be disappointed if things change or the next job is introduced.

4. “Thank you” - Have you ever been to a grocery store or restaurant where you were treated as if it were your reputation to give them your money? I hate those places, and I visit them only once. I will bet I am not alone again. If you were accepted for your business, would you do business with it? In fact, ask yourself the same question. If you do not inform your customers forget the ones who want to help you.

5. “Ignore praise” - I enjoy being praised for a job well done like everyone else, but if you focus on those things, what do you really gain? Have you ever walked into an executive council office where the walls were covered with prizes, plaques, pictures of them and celebrities and on top of "look at me and what I do" trinkets?

When you walk into such an office you are definitely making an impression on that person. Personally, I think you are much better at appreciating gratitude, understanding what got you there and moving on. The goal of every business owner is to be successful, once you reach that goal make sure you remember that you will reach another level and be more successful without being arrogant than you think you can be because you are behind the wheel.
