Elon Musk is hitting a new low. According to The Verge, Tesla and SpaceX employees have been let go. But, don’t worry, this wasn’t Musk at his wildest, wildest hour. No, this was his people who wrote a letter blasting Musk’s “behavior” and “values.” Elon Musk fired some people. The surprising news has brought a lot of backlash.

“The Tesla situation has become a real distraction,” one person wrote.
“Way to go Elon. Firing your employees over an anonymous letter is my opinion, and not a good one,” another added.
“I don’t know any of these people and personally loathe your leadership. What an awful way to treat your workers,” said one person.
A number of Tesla owners took to the web to slam the company. “Looks like the kind of company Elon Musk should leave behind,” said one person. “Cutting off your critics by firing them? What an arrogant, clueless human. So many of his company’s problems could have been solved it almost any situation. Do your employees’ work and deal with it,” said another.
“SpaceX is a joke,” said one person. “They should be shut down.”
These employees wrote a letter to SpaceX board members that Elon Musk had become “emotionally erratic” and “unpredictable” and that the Musk’s “conduct in recent months has been completely unacceptable, and in my view unsustainable.”
The letter went on to say that Musk’s behavior “has become risky to the health of our company and the pursuit of science,” the letter said. “I can’t turn a blind eye to what’s happened — it’s right in front of me.”

The employees claimed that Musk is essentially “a good friend and an incredible leader,” but that he “acts almost like he is a slave driver.” According to the letter, Musk wants to work seven days a week and rarely spends time with his family.
Elon Musk Fires Back with an Email to Supporter
Elon Musk released an email to a supporter of his. In it, he reiterated that he wasn’t “throwing people off.” Musk said he’s “unaware” of the letter that his employees had written. But, according to the email, Musk’s “strength is drawn from this extraordinary village.”
Musk said he’s proud of his company and its employees. He added that Musk “will only express disagreement” when he finds a solution. Musk said the employee’s were simply “defending me against false attacks on social media.”
However, Musk has been dealing with a number of controversies in recent months. In a recent conference call, Musk took a bit of a shot at short-sellers. He said that he was “embarrassed” by the attacks.
Incidentally, short sellers who bet against Tesla have been accused of attempting to undermine Musk and his company. After the call, the company’s stock plummeted by 7 percent.
Shares of Tesla have also been battered in recent months after Musk smoked weed on a live podcast. He has also publicly mocked his critics.
Although Musk maintains the company is the target of short-sellers, some are skeptical that he’s actually the target of the attacks. Musk’s behavior in recent months has certainly been erratic. He smoked weed on a live podcast, called a British diver a pedophile in a tweet, and offered to swap seats with a man dying on a Tesla factory floor.
When Musk was asked in a recent call if he needed to start behaving more like a grown up to be taken seriously as a leader, he appeared to dodge the question and said he was taking a break from work. “I just got out of a three-month long blackout,” he said.
Musk also made a serious announcement about his plans for SpaceX. Musk said he is working on an underground tunnel to transport passengers in Los Angeles. He also talked about sending people to Mars.
