There is a war going on in Gaza, Palestine. Israel's military is conducting indiscriminate attacks on the besieged valley. About 8 thousand 800 people have lost their lives in Gaza. But this is not the first time Gazans have been at war. In the past 15 years, the Palestinians have faced six wars over this.

In 2007, the Palestinian independence armed resistance organization Hamas took full control of governance in Gaza. After that, Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza by water, land, and air. A year later, in 2008, the first war broke out in Gaza. Then there were wars in 2012, 2014, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

2008

Israeli forces began military operations in Gaza after killing Hamas fighters. Because of this, the war broke out. The Israeli army named it 'Operation Cast Lead'. During the week-long war, Israeli forces bombarded Gaza and invaded the Gaza Strip. At least 1,000 Palestinians and 12 Israelis were killed in this war. In addition, there is widespread destruction in Gaza. Numerous homes, businesses and power infrastructure in Gaza were reduced to rubble.

2012

The Israeli Air Force bombarded Gaza for eight consecutive days. The head of the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Gaza's ruling group Hamas, was killed. At least 180 others lost their lives.

In 2021, the eviction of Palestinians from the West Bank and Israel's restrictions on access to the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque led to the Gaza War.

The Israeli Air Force began bombing Gaza from warplanes. In addition, artillery shelled Gaza from the border area. More than 2,100 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli attack. Most of the casualties were civilians. Israel claimed that 67 of its soldiers and 6 civilians were killed in the Hamas counterattack.

2021

This year saw major violence in Gaza. The violence began after Israel threatened to evict Palestinian families from the Israeli-occupied Palestinian suburb of Sheikh Zara in East Jerusalem and banned them from visiting the Al-Aqsa mosque during the holy month of Ramadan. Israel started bombing Gaza. More than 250 people lost their lives in Gaza.

2022

Israel started bombing Gaza last year. In response, Hamas also launched a counterattack. At least 144 Palestinians lost their lives in the three-day war. 15 of them were children.

2023 (ongoing)

Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. Over 200 people were captured from Israel and brought to Gaza. On the same day, announcing the elimination of Hamas, Israel launched an indiscriminate counter-attack on Gaza and imposed a complete blockade on Gaza. This has led to a humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

According to the Gaza Health Authority, 8,800 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in the last 23 days by Israeli bombings. Among them are 3 thousand 648 children and 2 thousand 136 women.

The war separated Gaza's newlyweds

The wife is a Jordanian citizen, and the husband is Palestinian. They got married a few days ago. However, due to Israel's ongoing attack on Gaza, they had to separate. Wife Rafah was able to cross the border but her husband did not get permission.

Egypt opened the Rafah crossing to civilians for the first time since the start of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on October 7.

A video was released by the staff of the Arabic language version of Al-Jazeera on social media. It showed the newlyweds tearfully hugging each other as they parted at the Rafah border.

Earlier, Al-Jazeera reported that the Jordanian wife was allowed to cross the border to Egypt. And her Palestinian husband must stay in Gaza.

In a brief interview, the man said he went to the Rafah border with his wife. He tried to ensure that his wife could cross the border safely.

"My only crime is that I am a Palestinian," lamented the Palestinian citizen.

The Rafah crossing is located south of Gaza. It is the only border crossing point between Gaza and Egypt. Egypt closed the Rafah crossing after the beginning of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It was opened yesterday Wednesday.

Since then, more than four hundred people have left the Palestinian Gaza Strip. Palestinian officials said that 335 of them are foreign passport holders. In addition, 76 injured Palestinians crossed the Rafah crossing.
