One night in April last year. Win Nexus was called by a neighbor and told that his son, Way Soe Heinz, had been abducted by soldiers.
Way Soy had a phone shop in Yangon. He was detained by the military on charges of involvement in anti-government protests that began in Myanmar on February 1 last year after a military coup.
The non-profit organization The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) documented political prisoners and killings. Wei Soyek, 31, was last seen at a local police station after being detained by soldiers, according to APP and Win Hlaing. He has not been traced since.
The police station was called by the news agency Reuters. But from there, nothing was known about the location of Way Soy.
Reuters is investigating two more missing persons. But the police could not say anything about them.
Reuters contacted a junta spokesman to find out. However, the spokesman did not respond to e-mails and phone calls sent by Reuters.
Many, like Way Soe, have been missing since the military coup in Myanmar.
According to the APP, more than 8,000 people have been detained or arrested since the military coup in Myanmar. Among them are the country's leader Aung San Suu Kyi and most of her cabinet members. Besides, about one and a half thousand people have been killed by the junta.
However, Reuters could not independently verify the accounts provided by APP.
The APP says hundreds of people have died after being captured by junta security forces.

Looking for a loved one

The family members of these missing persons occasionally send food to the jail or police station. Their idea is that if the sent food is taken, then maybe the relatives are in the custody of that jail or police station.
Tai-Wongbike, chairperson of the UN Working Group on Disappearances, told Reuters that since February last year, they had received complaints about the disappearance of relatives from many families in Myanmar. This situation is extremely worrying.
Activist Aung San Suu Kyi, 43, lives in a town on the border with Myanmar. In the aftermath of the military coup, he fled Sagaing in the southwest and took refuge there. He told Reuters that in December last year, his parents and siblings were abducted by junta soldiers. He does not know where they are now.
Aung San Suu Kyi writes satirical writing. He is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Jiang's intervention. Among the detained members of the family, his father is 74 years old. He was paralyzed by a stroke.
Aung San Suu Kyi said, "I have no choice but to worry about the missing family members."
Reuters contacted two police stations in the city to find out, but did not receive a response.
Anti-junta resistance has turned violent in some parts of Myanmar amid such repression by the authorities. Many have taken up arms.
Thousands of people have been displaced by resistance fighters fighting the junta's security forces. The United Nations says thousands of Myanmar people have crossed the border into Thailand and India to seek refuge.
