Why people often play games

Video games have been argued about for decades. Some people have argued that video games are linked to violence. However, new research shows that video games can be used for therapeutic purposes, exercise, stress relievers, positive interactive learning, hand-eye coordination, and different types of patient treatment for people worldwide.

.the media and some experts readily blame violent video games as to why some youth become violent or commit extreme anti-social behavior. But many scientists and psychologists find that video games actually have many benefits. Video games may actually teach kids high-level thinking skills that they will need. Video games give your child’s brain a real workout. In many video games, the skills required to win involve abstract and high-level thinking. These skills are not even taught at school. Some of the mental skills trained by video games include hand-eye coordination, fine motor, and spatial skill. In shooting games, the character may be running and shooting at the same time. This requires the real-world player to track the character's position, heading, speed, where the gun is aiming, if the gunfire is hitting the enemy, etc.

All these factors need to be taken into account, and then the player must then coordinate the brain’s interpretation and reaction with the movement in their hands and fingertips. This process requires a great deal of eye-hand coordination and visual-spatial ability to be successful. Researches also suggest that people can learn iconic, spatial, and visual attention skills from video games. There have been even studies with adults showing that experience with video games is related to better surgical skills.

Also, a reason given by the experts as to why fighter pilots of today are more skillful is that the generation’s pilots are being weaned on video games. Psychological Benefits of Video Games While many studies of video games and the negatives it has on people always seem to be front-page news. The media never seems to state the benefits that video games can have. Can video games actually have a benefit? Can sitting in place for hours playing a video game really teach an individual something useful to use in their life? To better understand this, first, one must understand what video games are. Video games differ from other media (books, movies, television, etc.) because video games are designed to keep people engaged. Some people want to play video games which causes many negative side effects on children,

but video games can also be good for developing cognitive, physical, and many more hidden skills. Furthermore, they can also be cheaper than television. Although there are negative side effects of video games, I have found many positive effects games have on children. Video games are looked down upon by parents as a time-waster, and worse, some education experts think that these games corrupt the brain.

Violent video games are readily blamed by the media and some experts because some youth become violent or commit extreme anti-social behavior. However, many scientists and psychologists find that video games can have many benefits, the main being making kids smart. Video games may actually teach kids high-level thinking skills that they will need in the future.
