Why need to change of writing scripts due to social media and cell phones

   Technology is constantly growing day by day. There was a time when people used different birds to send their messages, then came an era of letter writing and then grew to wire phone services. But as the technology got boosted, the revolution in the communicative process is also increased and people started using wireless mobile phones which then got text message facility as well. After the arrival of the android phone and social media, the whole scenario is rapidly changed and people got a complete change in their life. Social media and these grown-up cell phones put a great impact on the health, habits, thinking, exposure, knowledge, and mood of the user. Although all these changes are discussed differently by the different writers from different perspectives, this article only discusses the impact of mobile phones on the writing of Arabic scripts.
   The people who belong to the Indian subcontinent have a craze for mobile phones and social media, so the impact on their language skills. The main change in language due to social media is the change in the script of language. Mostly the basic software in cell phones, tablets, or laptops are in the English language, or they mostly sport English keyboards and the users mostly find it difficult to convert them into Urdu writing. Consequently, they started chatting and their messages in roman script. Firstly it was limited to personal messages but now even on the internet a lot of data is present which is spoken or expressed in the Urdu language, but it does not follow its proper script rather it is written in Roman (English) script or style.
    This change is growing day by day, and it seems that it is not limited to Urdu. It is also happening with other indigenous languages of the region as well. This change is, on one hand, creating an easy situation for users but on the other hand, it is creating two hurdles for these users as well. The first problem for users is to make their writing skills poor, and the second is the lack of transcription alphabets in English as compared to Urdu. This means that Urdu and English are different languages, and they have totally different vocabulary, different writing styles, and even different writing patterns. English is written from one end of the paper, while Urdu is written from the opposite side of the paper. So this new amalgam not only confuses the symbols, and alphabets, but also confuses the writing structure or pattern of language. And with the use of this script, most people feel difficulties during writing their native language.
     This situation may lead to a language change, which is on one hand beneficial for those languages which do not have a proper writing system. But on the other hand, it will make the reading and writing skills of Urdu poor and as a result, people will get away to their own culture and heritage which is saved by scholars and writers in their own language. Although this change is at the initial stage, with the passage of time it can get the shape of a change into a new writing script.
    So to save the users from this hurdle and change the role of web developers and application developers. It is important that they should enable the Urdu language in all applications and also put more data on the internet in the Urdu language. On the other hand, steps should be taken region-wise to make the regional language's default in cell phones, this can help a bit to save the language's heritage.
