Of all the elysian bodies that capture our attention and fascination as astronomers, none has a lesser influence on life on Earth than its own satellite, the moon. When you think about it, we regard the moon with similar important significance that unlike the moons of other globes which we give names, we only relate to our one and only ringing sphere as THE moon. It is actually not a moon.
To us, it's the one and only moon. The moon works its way into our way of thinking, our passions about love, our poetry and literature and indeed how we feel about our day in day out lives in numerous cases. It isn't only primitive societies that impute mood swings, changes in social conduct and changes in rainfall to the moon. Indeed, a full moon can have an important effect on these forces, which we admit indeed if we can not explain them scientifically.

This, again, is a commodity we can thank the presence of that lovely moon in the sky for.
