why loneliness caused high blood pressure

A lone heart is one of the most important factors contributing to high blood pressure. In fact, a recent study suggests that loneliness may not be as bad as being overweight or inactive in your heart. Does spending time with friends lower your blood pressure?

Although the need to connect is natural to us, most of us often feel lonely. Loneliness is a state of distress or suffering that occurs when a person perceives the gap between their desire for social connection and their actual experiences. Some people who have been surrounded by others all day — or who have been in long-term marriages — still experience deep and widespread loneliness. Research shows that loneliness poses a serious threat to well-being and long-term physical health

How is blood pressure affected?

When the University of Chicago studied a group of 229 men and women aged 50 to 68, they found something interesting. After eliminating all other factors, they found that people without comorbidity had higher blood pressure.

Individuals in the study had 10 to 30 mm Hg higher blood pressure than their partners. By comparison  losing 10 kg of extra weight has been shown to lower your blood pressure by 5 to 20 mm Hg .physical activity by 4 to 9 mm Hg.

It shows the importance of social relationships in our lives. A big part of living a healthy life is enjoying good relationships with friends and family.
