The pattern of the work of a computer specialist carries many bone diseases. The main complaint is ongoing pain in the upper limbs, neck, shoulders, and back. Upper extremity disorders (also called RSI, or tenosynovitis) are the worst as they can quickly lead to permanent disability.

 

Repeated injuries occur when the moving parts of the organs are injured. Most of the time, the victims of this injury are computer professionals, artists, students, and others who have to use their hands regularly in a repetitive manner.

 

Symptoms

 

Users experience chronic pain in the hands, elbows, shoulders, neck, and back. Other symptoms include cramps, dizziness and numbness in the hands. User gestures can be awkward and one may find it difficult to even press buttons.

 

Some exceptions may produce painful symptoms in the upper extremities, but the site may be difficult to locate.

Affected people should seek medical help when the first symptoms begin. Steps that can be taken at an individual level include:

 

Standing: Recommended sitting position in front of the computer is paused and arms resting on the cradle or extension of the keyboard support. There should be enough back support. The hands should be relaxed and facing the side of the hands. Feet should rest on the floor or feet supported. Meter distance should be 18 inches or more and be slightly below eye level.

 

Rest: User should take short breaks every 15 minutes and longer breaks every hour.

 

Hydration: Drink plenty of fluids to keep muscles and tissues soft.

 

Shortcuts: Use keyboard shortcuts instead of the mouse. Touch the keyboard lightly and do not focus on it. The wrist should sit on a table or wrist.

 

Phone use: Do not hold the phone between your face and shoulder while working, as this may result in neck compression.

 

Messages: Do not use a computer while transmitting messages in person or through an intercom.

 

No sports: Sports or surfing may increase the stress on your hands.

 

Prevention measures at the Organizational Level: Organizations that use computers extensively can also take certain precautionary measures.

 

These include:

 

1. You need to educate your employees about the importance of good posture.

 

2.Make sure all your employees use high quality ergonomic furniture that will save working hours by ensuring total comfort for the staff.

 

3.Provide periodic reminders of audio and video presentations and views by medical professionals on the importance of good health care while using computers.

 

If symptoms start, consult an orthopedic surgeon. Do not make a diagnosis yourself. Diagnosis will be based on history and clinical findings as there will be no changes in X-rays, as affected soft tissues. Nerve conduction research can confirm the diagnosis. In previously detected cases, attention to ergonomics will restore normalcy.

 

In cases diagnosed late, orthopedic treatments such as injections and minor surgery may be required.

 

Remember that all computer-related risks will not affect your health in the short term. But it may take years to show symptoms. As I said earlier, prevention is better than cure
