The eighth and final episode of Peacemaker's first season shocked DCEU fans with the departure of four Justice League members. While the stand-ins used by Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill, Miller and Momoa both re-played their role, even exchanging a few lines between each other. Actor Matt Turner, who also starred in Affleck's Batman, revealed that Dark Knight and Cyborg were intended to appear in the Peacemaker season finals, but ended up being eliminated from the episode.
Peace coordinator James Gunn previously spoke of the absence of two members of the Society, saying, "You know, I do not know what I can do - there are reasons for you, but I'm really not sure if I can say what those reasons are. It may be related to future things." In a similar interview, Gunn reiterated that the first plan was to produce only Momoa, although Miller later agreed to play his role as Barry Allen / The Flash again.

John Cena Breaks Peace In Peacemaker's Justice League Cameos
After appearing for the first time as Christopher Smith / Peacemaker in 2021 as The Suicide Squad, John Cena once again played his role as a character in the original HBO Max series. Peacemaker takes a direct look after the events of the Suicide Squad and sees Christopher Smith labeled as an unregistered machine known as Project Butterfly. He was joined by ARGUS ambassadors Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), John Economos (Steve Agee), Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji) and Leota Abedayo (Danielle Brooks), and Adrian Chase / Vigilante (Freddie Stroma).
When the show was first announced, Gunn called it "an opportunity to investigate current world affairs through the lens of this hero / supervillain / and the world's largest douchebag." The end of Peacemaker's Season 1 saw Chris and ARGUS finish their Project Butterfly project and, following the first show, became the most effective episode of the original HBO Max series with a great one-day broadcast on the broadcast service.
Peacemaker has been updated for the second season and Season 1 is now broadcasting on HBO Max.
