Do you know that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world? Islam is spreading more than any other religion of the world including world leading faith Christianity.
It is true that currently the major and mostly practiced religion on Earth is Christianity with almost 2.5 billion or more followers worldwide making almost 33% of the world population. On the other hand Islam has approximately 2.1 billion followers making 25% of the world population, which are now increasing day by day. There is a strong competition of followers among these two major religions. It seems that Islam is going to take seat of world leading faith in few upcoming decades and Christianity will no longer be a dominant faith of this planet. Adherents of Islam are expected to be more than believers of Christianity in next few years.
There are various reasons behind this accelerated growth especially the diversity of Muslims population and conversion of non-believers to Islam. Firstly and most importantly the topography of Muslim population facilitates the growth of Islam in almost every region of the world even in the Latin America and the United Kingdom. The other reason is the birth rate in highly Muslim populated countries as the Pakistan and the India. Birth rate in Muslim world is higher than other parts of the word and it is approximately three children per woman.
Moreover, there are no religious restrictions on number of children in Islam, so most of the Muslim women prefer more and more children. Also the low literacy rate in few Muslim countries especially Pakistan gear up the birth rate. Some scholars predict that Pakistan would become the largest Muslim state in next fifty years. Now more than 12% of the Muslims reside in Pakistan and 96% of the Population of Pakistan is Muslim. Islam is also state religion in Pakistan which is preferable for all individuals residing in Pakistan. Also there are some reports of forceful conversion in Pakistan. eighty percent of Muslims reside in two mostly populated continents of the world i.e. Asia & Africa where the birth rate is higher than other regions of the world. Birth rate in these two continents is also higher than other inhabitant continents of the world especially Europe and America.
The other reason behind this quick growth is fertility rate in Muslim countries. Muslims reside in the countries where fertility rate is higher than other countries of the World. For example Fertility rate in Indonesia is twenty births per thousand people and Indonesia is home to almost 230 Million Muslim which makes 15% of the total Muslim population. Secondly a large Population of the Muslims resides in India. India is home to almost 214 Million Muslims, but Muslims are in minority there. Birthrate in India is also higher than other leading countries of the world.
Longer life span among Muslims is also a reason for growth of Islam. Majority of Muslims are young about 24 years of age with life span of almost 65 years which is higher than other religious individuals. So, life span in Muslims is expected to be longer than other religions where larger population is old.
The last important reason for growth of Islam is its teachings. Islam is a beautiful religion and a complete code of life with its distinct socio-economic system. Islam teaches equality and Muslims believe in complete adherence and submission of oneself to God. These beautiful teachings of Islam attract others to accept Islam. Every year a large number of non-believers accept Islam. About 5000-10000 Americans enter into the fold of Islam every year.
Unfortunately, despite such large population there is extreme poverty in some Muslim countries as Syria and Pakistan. The main reason behind this condition of Muslim world is lack of unity and fraternity. They fight with each other, kill each other, and consider themselves worst enemies.
