781 The variant Omicron cases in India.
Most of the variant cases are in Delhi (238). Delhi has the highest cases of the new variant, followed by Maharashtra with 167 cases. The first case of the Omicron was found in South Africa in November, now it has spread to almost 21 states of the country, India.

But the risk posed the Omicron is very high, and, still very high.
W.H.O said that the Covid-19 number of cases shot up by 11%, but behind the rapid virus spikes in several countries, i.e., Omicron. W.H.O has been already reported the data cases from Britain, South Africa, and, Denmark, which has the largest rate of infection per person.
There is a new update that the Government will ban New Year Celebration in 8 States.
In Delhi, the curfew has been imposed from 10 PM to 5 AM, also imposed the strictest Covid-19 curbs ahead of New Year Celebration. The Delhi Government announced on 29 December 2021 that as a part of the Yellow Alert, the schools, colleges, and, other institutions will be closed until further orders, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority said.
The DDA has also announced restrictions on the activities of offices, restaurants, malls, shops, etc. in the new guidelines. On 28th December 2021, there were huge spikes in the infection of Omicron, and, the city was recorded the new 331 cases.
The Government of Maharashtra has also prohibited the gathering of more than 5 persons in public places between 9 PM to 6 AM, also Restaurants have to operate 50% capacity. New Year Celebration has also been banned by the Mumbai civic body in any open space or closed area.
In Karnataka, the state has imposed a 10-day curfew between 10 PM to 5 AM, besides, the Government has banned the New Year Celebration at pubs, restaurants, and, hotels.
In Kerala, The Government has banned the New Year Celebration during the night hours.
Madhya Pradesh has also banned the New Year Celebration and imposed a night curfew between 11 PM to 5 AM as a precautionary measure to stop the Omicron spread.
Gujarat Government has extended the night curfews in 8 cities by 2 hours, between 11 PM to 5 AM instead of 1 AM to 5 AM in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, and, Gandhinagar.
Utter Pradesh has also imposed a night curfew between 11 PM to 5 Am.
Odisha Government has also decided to impose New Year Celebration restrictions until 2 January 2022.
