Why is Netflix so addictive?

Do you agree that Netflix is addictive? Netflix has been slaying with the variety of shows they are streaming online. Tap open the Netflix app, and the first few minutes are poof - gone in browsing the shows. It is so difficult to decide which series to follow or which movie to watch. The options are enormous. If you decide to watch an English movie, at least an hour and a half or more is spent. If you decide to watch a series, it leads to binge-watching for hours, and you don’t even realize how many hours have been spent. I must admit for not realizing how a day went by starring into The Bridgerton, and by the end of the day, feeling super guilty. But then again, post-dinner, it would be back to Netflix to catch up on the rest of the series.

Why do you think Netflix is so addictive?

Well, I would hand down agree Netflix has some of the best shows. Who wouldn’t get addicted! There are shows for all age groups and genres.

Movies: let’s look at some of the shows that can get anyone hooked. Not in any particular order, these are some of the best movies I enjoyed watching:

  • The Holiday – This is one of those movies that you can watch on a Sunday afternoon. You would want to be lazy and comfortable on your couch.
  • The Pursuit of Happyness – Oh! This movie is emotional and inspiring at the same time. It’s for one of those days when you want to feel inspired and get your motivation up. Also, it’s a movie that will make you miss your dad.
  • Kung Fu Panda – This is my all-time favorite animation movie. This is one of those movies that can be watched anytime. It is a quick mood fix.
  • Bird Box – This Sci-Fi movie cannot be missed. Sandra Bullock, as always, is amazing in this movie. Movies like Bird Box make me wonder what’s in store for us in the future. The pandemic makes me wonder are we heading towards very uncertain and challenging times. Hopefully not. Let me not go there.
  • Army of the Dead – I am not sure how many of you’re fans of this genre or Zack Snyder movies? I loved this movie. It’s a movie to be watched in the night with friends. Also, don’t forget popcorns and beer or soda.
  • Fatherhood – An emotional and down-to-earth drama movie. Kevin Hart is fantastic in the movie. This is to be watched with your dad. It brings a lot of memories back from childhood.

Series:

  • Stranger Things – Stranger Things is a science fiction horror series. The cast has done marvelous work. It is a treat to watch all of them especially, Millie Bobby Brown.
  • Orange Is The New Black – The characters in this series keep you gripped. I enjoyed how each character was introduced, and later the audience was given a view into their previous life before they were convicted. The first and second seasons, in particular, will get you hooked, and you wouldn’t realize the time flying by.
  • Friends – Can anyone get over this classic? No matter what stage of life you’re in, it will just make you forget everything and binge-watch this series.
  • Never Have I Ever – This teen story got me hooked since season 1. Season 2 is as promising as season 1. It is a sweet and refreshing watch with a mix of cultures blended into this teen coming-of-age comedy series.
  • Grace and Frankie – Though this is a comedy-drama, this has so much to say. After 40 years of marriage, if one of the spouses comes out as gay, what would be the reaction. I can only imagine.
  • Queen’s Gambit – This is a definite must-watch. A journey of an orphaned child to stardom is one of the best series to watch. Whether you love chess or not, this will get you hooked.

I am holding myself to end the list here. The list can go on – Sex Education, Firefly Lane, Bridgerton, Narcos, The Bold Type, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Suits, A fall from Grace, and so much more.

How to get detached from Netflix?

Oh boy! That isn’t easy! It requires a conscious effort. Keep yourself productive throughout the day so that you don’t have time to touch your phone. If you retire a little early to bed, you can allow a couple of hours. Beware though! It can impact you. The best is to set aside Netflix time for the weekend. Fix the number of hours you could spend over the weekend. Do not go overboard and spent all your weekend on Netflix. Take time out for other activities too. Of course, you know there are other activities like cooking, bathing, exercise and life in general!

Share your list of shows in the comment, and it would be good to catch up on them!
