Why is kashmir important to Pakistan

History of Kashmir

Kashmir is a region in the northwest of the Indian continent. It shares borders with Tibet Autonomous Region to the east, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab in India to the south, the Uyghur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang to the northeast, Afghanistan to the northwest, and Pakistan to the west. The Indian subcontinent, which has a total area of around 222,200 square kilometers (85,800 square miles), has been a source of strife between India and Pakistan since its division in 1947. The three Pakistan-controlled territories that comprise the northern and western sections are Azad Kashmir, Gil git, and Batista; the latter two have been united into a single administrative region known as Gil git Batista (formerly Northern Areas). Land and People:

The Kashmir region is mostly mountainous, with high, desolate plateaus and deep, narrow valleys. The  Range of the Lesser Himalayas and the densely forested Himalayan foothills in the southwest divide the larger, more fertile, and densely populated Vale of Kashmir from the relatively low-lying Jam mu and Punch  plains in the north. At an elevation of roughly 5,300 feet (1,600 meters), the vale forms the upper helm River's basin and is home to Srinagar. Jam mu and the valley are in Jam mu and Kashmir, which is ruled by India, whereas the Punch lowlands are mostly in Azad Kashmir.

The western portion of the Great Himalayas, whose peaks rise to elevations of 20,000 feet (6,100 meters) or higher, rises northeast of the valley. The high, hilly plateau region of Latah, farther to the northeast, is divided by the rocky valley of the Indus River, which flows in a northwesterly direction. The steep peaks of the Karakorum Range, including K2 (Mount Godwin Austen), which at 28,251 feet (8,611 meters) is the second highest-mountain in the world after Mount Everest, extend roughly northwestward from the Himalayas.

Northeast of the valley rises the western part of the Great Himalayas, whose peaks reach heights of at least 20,000 feet (6,100 meters). The rocky Indus River valley, which runs in a northwesterly direction, divides the high, hilly plateau region of Lakh more to the northeast. The rocky peaks of the Karakorum Range, which includes K2 (Mount Godwin Austen), reach roughly northwestward from the Himalayas. At 28,251 feet (8,611 meters), K2 is the second-highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest.

The region's climate ranges from subtropical in the lowlands in the southwest to alpine in the high mountain regions. The amount of precipitation varies; it is greater in regions that the monsoonal winds can access to the west and south of the major mountains and sparse to the north and east where continental conditions rule.

Speaking Hindi, Punjabi, and Dofri, the residents of the Jam mu region are Muslim in the west and Hindu in the east. Most of the people who live in Pakistan's and Kashmir's Vale are Muslims who speak Urdu and Kashmiri. Buddhist Tibetans who speak Baltic and Ladakhi live in the sparsely populated Latah region and surrounding areas. It is the history of Kashmir.
