The Indian Government issued the ban on Free Fire a week ago, on 14 February. Due to security concerns, they have prohibited more than 200 apps, such as Lite, and more, in multiple ban waves over the last few years.

There are also a few sections of fans who are demanding a ban on the Free Fire MAX, showing Tencent (Chinese company) involvement. So, this is one of the reasons that creates confusion.
However, reports suggest that the MAX version of the game is completely owned by the Singaporean company as there are no direct links between Tencent Hence, Free Fire MAX has very less chance to be banned, as of now.
