Why I'M NOT A PERFECT MOTHER

I'm not a perfect mother

You wrote on my wrinkled forehead now

But I couldn't see when how

You wrote it on my brow.

Wish that had come when in ashes I lay

At least I would die a happy woman

Who bore motherhood twice

Pride beautifying my caprice

Depression beating my door

I can't hold, no more

Oh, I'm not a perfect mother

Let there be no mothers anymore.

Tears of joy that once wetted my cheek

Sad tears now wash my face, meek

How sure was I my love will never be faulted

But my child you've grown, times have rolled

As I search the memories of love

Memories of the child that has now grown

How would you know when sleepless I rose

Every time the maternal alarm went off

That I looked at you, such a lovely sight

Waking to that soundless alarm

I could read your gestures for feed

While the world snored in blissful sleep

But tired and drained I am now

Must free from this life

Up heaved with struggle and pain

What's the use living life so vain

Thankful for what I am made to see

I've not been a perfect mother

So farewell my dear son

Thankful I mothered you to this earth

This mother must rest now forever.

Both men and women have health issues  but some issues are critically more prone to affect women health.

It is generally observed that women’s health conditions have received low priority. It is disheartening to note that most drug trials are not conducted on women to understand how these drugs work on women. This is again an instance of low priority meted out for women's health.

It's a welcome scenario to note breast cancer attracting the concern of both government and corporate houses. But then women's psychology is differently affected during cancer, menopause, and pregnancy, a fact that is yet to be studied.

Women even suffer from various lifestyle diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, urinary tract infection which even affect their mental health.

Have you ever realized how easily you get caught in a loop of playing a tiny fraction of your capacity? Expand your capacity before life gets on your nerves!

The thought began rocking in my mind when this young woman in her late thirties or even forties, I’m not sure, who lives in the same condo as mine, told me how her life has become after she chose to return to do a job after nine years.

It’s been like starting life all over again.

Despite all the loud cheer for women to actively participate in the building of a sound economy shoulder to shoulder with the men folks, an overwhelmingly large majority of married women prefer to be stay-home wives. Some married working women, after entering motherhood choose to become stay-home wives being bogged by town with child-rearing chores. Their life gets filled with nothing more than household chores and child-care duties.

It may sound like a great relief from the pressure of going to work and providing for the household in the beginning. Living life as a stay-home wife isn’t cliché yet. But, after some time many women get bored with their lives as housewives and look forward to returning to work. You realize that caught in a loop of playing a tiny fraction of your capacity. Life feels so meaningless.

Unfortunately, by that time the opportunities for such women to be in jobs again become slender. A large majority of them are compelled to begin their career afresh. Not a sweet sailing game, for sure!
