What I want to discuss in this article is the basic idea of honesty. The internet is a fantastic place to do business, but with constant flooding of spyware, malware, and spam, it can be scary and frustrating for the average user. I'm surprised, but not surprised, by the unethical behavior of businesses that use popups and spam to sell a product. It’s no surprise that those business practices are working. Any of us who have worked in this field for a while know that traffic is king.
It has been my experience to return to honesty when dealing with customers. It may not be money quickly, but I can see myself in the mirror in the morning, and I know I did the right thing. I have a lifetime customer, not a one-night sale to a customer I cheated to buy my product. It’s not always about the bottom line of making money. It should be about service and product value. Over the years, I have had more business cleaning computers than building computers completely occupied with viruses, Trojans, and spam. The number one complaint is 'I want to use my computer, don't worry about viruses and Trojans and updates !!!' Can I benefit from unethical business practices? Yes, I do when I spend an hour cleaning the computer. Do I take the time to teach the customer? You bet I do! After cleaning or building the computer, I spend an hour to two hours with the client. Am I losing money from this practice? Yes, I do, but I get respect from the customer, and that customer always comes back.
One of the major challenges in doing business online is that we are not always facing our customers. However, there are ways to add value to your customer and replicate the business. It doesn’t cost as much to call someone and say thank you for their business. It does not cost much to send a thank you card. Many times I think we have forgotten that email is not the only way to communicate. This is not always the best way to communicate with the spread of spam. The internet is a very personal place. This is a moral challenge for all of us trying to sell a product or business online. Is it possible to give more with declining income? This is the context in which we offer advice or suggestions to the customer. Over time, I can guarantee that this term will revolve around and that your business will develop a core group of customers who value your service and let others know.
Being a small business in the fast retail world of chain stores is a challenge. We cannot offer huge discounts at major chain stores, but we can offer a service price for the product. I challenge anyone in the IT industry to devote a little extra time to teaching customers the dos and don'ts of surfing the web. This will benefit your business and the customer as well.
honesty is The best policy
Being a small business in the fast retail world of chain stores is a Success.
