The match between India and Sri Lanka was initially set for July 27th. However, it has been rescheduled. The match had to be postponed because Indian left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya was found Covid-positive on match day. On the 28th of July, India and Sri Lanka will play their second T20I match.
BCCI stated earlier in the day in a press release, "Eight people have been identified as close contacts by the medical specialists. To rule out any more outbreaks in the team, the entire contingent is getting RT-PCR tests today."
Since the beginning of the series, all players have been subjected to antigen tests on match days. Both India and Sri Lanka have followed all of the Covid rules, but it was disappointing to see Krunal Pandya get hit by corona. As a result, all of the Indian contingent players must take the RT-PCR test on Tuesday to ensure that the squad is not vulnerable in any way.
India has dominated the series to a large extent. India won the ODI series handily despite having players with little international experience. They won the ODI series 2-1 against Sri Lanka. India also performed like a winner in the first T20I, winning by 38 runs. With nine balls to spare, India bowled out all of Sri Lanka's batting.
For Team India, all of the players played admirably. For his four wickets in 3.3 overs, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named Man of the Match. Surya Kumar Yadav once again performed admirably with the bat, scoring fifty runs for his team. Ishan Kishan's late-innings batsmanship ensured India scored more than 160 runs.
Krunal Pandya also performed admirably in the match, taking the first Sri Lankan wicket. However, because of the corona positive, he will be unavailable for selection for the second and third T20Is. In the second T20I, who will take Krunal's place? Along with Krishnappa Gowtham, the emerging leg spinner Rahul Chahar is a serious contender. In the most recent ODI match, Rahul Chahar bowled effectively and captured four wickets.
The second and third T20Is will be played consecutively. The final Twenty20 International will be played on July 29th, as planned from the start. India would love to win the second Twenty20 International, rescheduled for July 28th, and win the series. We should expect little changes in the last match of the series if India wins the second T20I against Sri Lanka.
