When it comes to privacy, you won't only have to trust the developer's word.
Google began eliminating the App Permissions section of the Play Store earlier this week. used to provide users with information about the permissions the app needs or has access to. Via the Twitter account for Android Developers, Google announced that they will undo the adjustments, and the App Permissions will soon be back in the Play Store, according to Android Police.

According to Google, the removal of a feature from the Play Store that displayed the permissions an app used has been reversed. The Data Safety section, which is meant to give you an idea of what data applications are collecting and how that data is used, has more or less taken the place of that information on the company's website.
The issue is that Google produced the app permissions portion, but the data in the data safety area was provided by developers, as numerous commenters noted. By eliminating it, Google prevented users from using the information from both parts to have a more thorough understanding of what an app is doing and what it is capable of.
Google claims that the app permissions section will soon be returning and that the decision to do so was taken in response to user criticism in a Twitter thread on Thursday that was picked up by Android Police. When the part returns, it should be visible alongside the Data Safety section, albeit at the time of writing, I couldn't see it on my device.
The Data Safety area of Google, which it debuted in April of this year after being revealed in May of 2021, is comparable to Apple's privacy labeling. Developers must disclose to Google how they handle user data, including if it is shared with outside parties and the type of data the app gathers. They must also provide other information, such as whether users may request that their data be destroyed and whether the data is encrypted. Google claims that only developers have access to these facts, although it does state that if it discovers errors in the Data Safety information, it will take action against the app.
