Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is also known as "MAHATMA GANDHI." In India, the term Mahatma means a person to be revered for high-mindedness, wisdom, selflessness, great prestige, etc. So why does a person of such high caliber and highly rated is hated by some groups in India? But before the commencement of this article, please note this disclaimer that I am neutral here and not supporting or opposing any points and not intended to hurt anyone's sentiments or views.
Reason 1: Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru
Through the history books, many people might be aware that Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru were given death sentences by the British Court. Gandhi had written to the Viceroy strongly criticizing him for creating the Special Tribunal to try the revolutionaries in the Lahore Conspiracy Case. Gandhi raised the issue of Bhagat Singh with Viceroy on 18th February: Accounts by both Gandhi and Irwin make it amply clear that Gandhi asked for postponement or suspension of the execution and not the commutation. Reason 2: Reciting of Quran in Hindu Temples
Many people are not aware that M.K. Gandhi began to hold his prayer meetings in a Hindu temple in Bhangi Colony and persisted in reading passages from Quoran as a part of the prayer in that Hindu temple despite the protest of the protest Hindu worshippers there. This was one of the reasons which angered Godse.
Reason 3: Consenting the Partition
Gandhi is being referred to as the Father of the Nation. But if that is so, he is believed to have failed his paternal duty in as much as he has acted very treacherously to the nation by consenting to its partitioning. Also, by agreeing to the remuneration of 55-70 crores.
Reason 4: Dis-respecting the Greats
[In the Ramayana] Rama killed Ravana in a tumultuous fight and relieved Sita.. [In the Mahabharata], Krishna killed Kansa to end his wickedness; and Arjuna had to fight and slay quite a number of his friends and relations, including the revered Bhishma because the latter was on the side of the aggressor. It is a firm belief that in dubbing Rama, Krishna, and Arjuna as guilty of violence, the Mahatma betrayed a total ignorance of the springs of human action. It is also believed that Gandhiji had condemned history’s towering warriors like Shivaji, Rana Pratap, and Guru Gobind Singh as misguided patriots. (Mostly indirectly)
Reason 4: Clash of views with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
There have been many topics and discussions related to the opposing views of Netaji and Mahatma. It is to believe that Netaji initially favored Mahatma's views, but as time passed by, Netaji had a strong view that it is only 1 way that the British would understand. To date, many arbelievehat Netaji's Army created the spark and hope for freedom. Here was a mass distribution within India for supporting these Greats.
Several other reasons have surfaced on the internet. Still, they have no structured evidence like his attitude towards her female help, dispute with Babasaheb, Non-violence strategy to impress the British, etc. I might be wrong, or I might be right. But the point here is not to prove someone wrong or right. The point here is evidence. If we have evidence for something those are believed, and even if there is 100% truth in something, but it is not supported by evidence, then it is not considered truth.
History is always believed to be written and adapted by those who won or those who survived.
