Google may choose high-end materials for future Pixel devices instead of using glass or metal.
It's no secret that Google is working on a ton of hardware devices, and I'm not just referring to the ones the company is ready to talk about publicly. It's possible that the Pixel 7 series, the Pixel Watch, and the next Pixel tablet may be enough to thrill you, but in reality, it's the unannounced products that are making us the most enthusiastic. A recent leak sheds some insight on two Google products that are set to launch in the near future, including one that has been long anticipated and postponed.
Google is presently preparing to collaborate with Foxconn on two next flagship phones, shifting production away from Vietnam and back to China for both products, according to leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo (via 9to5Google). Anyone who has regularly followed Pixel rumors should be familiar with the first smartphone. One of the two devices for this relationship is supposedly Google's first foldable, though it's not clear when manufacturing will begin. The information in today's leak regarding this device's potential features is not new; this Weibo post refers to it as a "traditional" folding phone; nonetheless, any indications that the Pixel Fold is still in development would undoubtedly assuage supporters who have been hoping for a first-party foldable.
But this second phone is a lot more enigmatic. A 50MP primary camera, an IMX787 sensor, and, most intriguingly, a ceramic body are all features of this apparent flagship device that runs on Tensor 2. If that sensor model seems familiar to you, it may be because it first appeared a few weeks ago, connected to the enigmatic "Lynx" gadget that no one has been able to fully identify. The presence of "Lynx" now makes a lot more sense if it does truly have a ceramic body, providing premium materials other than glass and metal for the first time in a Pixel phone.
Ceramic is uncommon in smartphones; it was used in the Essential PH-1 and the OnePlus X, but some manufacturers find it difficult to market because to its color restrictions. Prior to the unfortunate demise of that gadget, it was previously planned to also feature in the OSOM OV1, and it is unknown if the Solana Saga would follow in its footsteps. If Google does intend to produce a ceramic Pixel in the future, it may help differentiate its smartphones from others made of glass, metal, and plastic.
Consumer electronics under the Google Pixel brand are powered by either the Android or Chrome OS operating systems. With the release of the first-generation Pixel Chromebook in February 2013, the Pixel brand was launched. The Pixel series comprises a number of accessories in addition to computers, tablets, and smartphones.
