Why Farmer's Protest in India?

Farmers are protesting to demand repeal of laws...Indian farmers protesting on Delhi's roads have been beamed around the world.

They say it would undermine their autonomy as cultivators. The new laws would create monopolies in the grain markets.

It will trap farmers into contract farming arrangements with corporate buyers.

Farmers protesting agricultural reforms drove tractors through barricades and faced off with Police...At the center of the protests ate agricultural reforms prompted by Modi's Bhartiya Jan ta Party (BJP), which pushed three farming laws through Parliament in September 2020.

The Farmers are protesting for a long time with their families, including their Children, wife's and many more participating in the protest.

Farmers from different  Areas, village & cities are Collected together for protesting against these farm laws & they had also built temporary houses, kitchens, and shops which contains essentials like Food and medicines.....

What do the New laws say?

' These legislations were designed "primarily" for the benefit of "small and marginal farmers," which constitute around 85% of the total farmers'.

According to the Government's annual economic survey strongly defined new farm laws, saying they herald a new era of market freedom which can go a long way in improving the lives of small and marginal farmers in India.

The pre-budget document defended the farm Laws in the backdrop of long-running farmer's agitation at various borders of the national capital seeking repeal of these legislations expressing concern that they are pro-corporate and could weaken government-regulated Mandis, also called Agriculture Produce Marketing Committees(APMCs).

What's happening in Delhi?

Agitation begins at Delhi's Jantar Mantar amid heavy security.

The Jantar Mantar demonstration received permission from Delhi lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal because of only a maxi. Um of 200 protestors will be allowed till August 9.

Farmers protesting against the three contentious agri laws passed by the Central government launched an agitation on Thursday at the Jantar Mantar near Parliament in New- Delhi. A series of demonstrations against the farm laws are being held by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of Protesting farm unions.

Protesting farmers have also been asked to provide an affidavit declaring that all Covid-19 norms will be followed and that the movement will be peaceful. The demonstrators were met with heavy security deployment in the area amid the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.

How is the Government dealing with the farmers?

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar reiterated that his government is ready to have a healthy discussion on all aspects of the three farm laws passed during the 2020 Monsoon session of Parliament. Narendra Tomar reiterates, "govt willing to talk to resolve the agitation"(Source: Economic Times).

Farmers on Government's conversation mood.

BKU leader Rakesh Tikait on July 08 said that protesting farmers are ready to talk with the Government on the farm laws but "without conditions." Tikait responded to Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar's remarks earlier today, where he said that the government is ready to hold talks with the protesting farmers to discuss other options."They are imposing conditions that we should go to them for talks''.
